“Camping / RV in Nashville, TN”
Anderson Road Campground is a lakeside oasis in the green hills of Tennessee, providing campers with countless recreational activities on the lake and in the surrounding woods and grasslands. It is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District. Anderson Road Campground offers 37 shady and spacious campsites, along with one large day-use picnic shelter. The campground features drinking water, a dump station and flush toilets. A boat ramp and swimming beach are provided, allowing guests to take advantage of the vast, sparkling lake. J. Percy Priest Dam and Lake was one of the first Corps of Engineers lakes to have recreation as part of its mission. The dam, completed in 1968, impounds 42 miles, with 14,200 surface acres of water. Directions: From downtown Nashville, TN, take I-40 east for 5 miles to exit 219. Turn right on Stewarts Ferry Pike and continue straight on Bell Road for 5 miles. Turn left on Smith Springs Road, then left on Anderson Road. The campground is ahead about 1 mile on the left or continue straight on Anderson Road to access the day use area and shelter.

Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on July 21, 2021We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed camping here. You drive through a residential area to get to Anderson Road Recreation Park. It feels like you can't be going the right way, but you are. There are options for electric and water sites or dry camping. We put off reservations and came on 4th of July weekend, so we got the only dry camping spot left. The spaces are large enough for any size rig, and have a ton of privacy. We could barely see or hear our neighbors. If you're able to snag a waterfront site - DO IT! Their views are gorgeous!
There is a nearby lake you can swim or barbecue at (fee per car or bike) with great views. Dump site and water fill on site. There is also a ramp for your boat if you have one. It's about a 30 - 35 minute drive to downtown Nashville. Not the closest location, but it works if you want to hop into to town to sight see.

We arrived without a reservation and got a dry camping site for $16/nite on a Wednesday for two nights. All electric sites had been booked.
Our first site #18 was pull-through but was not easily accessible for our 30’ trailer due to deep ditches on both access roads. We then tried site #25 and could get the trailer in without risking falling into a ditch. That site worked for us, however, had significant tree coverage so our solar did not provide much power.
The major issue we found throughout the park was that the asphalt roads had severe water erosion on both sides leaving deep ditches in many areas. Some sites had been improved with cement added to the sides of the access roads and with cement pads. Many sites had not been improved and were still all asphalt in and out.
So if you go, watch out along the roads, when pulling into the sites and especially when driving into the dump area.
On a positive note, the park hosts at the front were very helpful and gave us several good ideas for our day in Nashville, and evening views of the lake were beautiful.

We loved this little campground. Large, private spots with water and electric and lake access. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

The campground was super clean. Bathrooms were spotless and I’m a bit of a germaphobe when it comes to public toilets. Couldn’t imagine how this place could get any nicer!

We booked the last site they had (non-electric) and since the temps were close to the 90s, the campground hosts (Tonya and Bobby) kept us informed of cancelled electric sights. They went out of the way for us and are super friendly! The sites are very spacious, very well maintained, and the road is nicely paved. We didn't use the bathhouse but it was cleaned. The only negative I can say is I wish they had more electric sites. Beautiful park!

This site is a pull through (on the wrong side) so your door opens to the road. However it was a very large site with a good distance from the other sites. However your proximity to the campground road could be annoying, as everyone goes by you.
Beautiful wooded area, you don't feel like you're just outside of Nashville. We got an Uber to downtown.
The shower house is very dated, but was clean.

Made it to Anderson Capground, COE, outside of Nashville, TN. We stayed on site 6 Lakefront $30/night with electric and water. Huge sites with “private” beach, rock pad, fire ring, grill and picnic table. Extremely quiet. I would skip the shower area but overall nice camping!

This was our fourth stay here since 2017. This site is located on the ACOE Percy Priest lake. Only sites 1 through 10 have electric and water connections. The remaining sites, while very nice, are dry camping. They do allow generators during certain hours. The parking pads are level, although backing into some is on a slope. The roads and facilities are well maintained. They resurfaced the roads throughout in 2019. The is a quiet peaceful location with easy access to Nashville straight up Murfreesboro Pike. If you have a big rig, this is really not the best place for you. Getting into many of the sites with the big rig is a challenge. Enjoy your sojourn.

Site 7 is the best site! Our stay was 1-3 June 2022. Easy access to the camp site. Some of the sites are tricky to back into with a long rig. Ours is 35 feet plus the 21 feet for the truck made it a little bit tricky to get in to our site. Once we got parked we quickly fell in love with the water access! The first 9 sites all have water access. The bath house is small and had no AC so in the heat of the summer is was a little uncomfortable especially after taking a shower just to be in a hot bath house. There is laundry but one 1 washer and 1 dryer. Camp house was great and she quickly asked me for my America the beautiful pass and applied my discount when we checked in! Only negative might be only 1-2 bars of cellular with Verizon but it was once to upload pictures and videos. Over all great site for a summer trip with awesome water access!
