Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 27, 2023As you take the exit off I17 into Munds Park, keep taking the main road straight until it turns to dirt. You’ll see a sign that camping is limited to 14 days Casner Park is 3 miles in, but 240 takes you all the way to Mormon Lake (12 miles in). There are so many sites all along the 240 and when you get to the Y after Casner Park at FR 700, there are a lot more campsites on 700 as well. Obviously, the further you drive in, the more secluded you’ll be, but it will take awhile to drive the rocky road.
The road is ok, but rocky, so you do have to go slow, but all size rigs will fit here. Most of the spots can fit 5-6 trailers in them. They have fire rings available and of course some sites are easier to get in than others. It’s great if you want more people staying with you. They are also spread far enough apart that even if you pulled in some sites that are taken, you’d be far enough away to feel alone.
The trees provide great shade too. This is definitely ATV country, so if the noise bothers you, you won’t like it as much. We didn’t bring ATV’s, but had a great time playing corn hole and drinking beer. Since it’s monsoon season, we had daily showers, some at night, but they were quick. It can get muddy with the storms. A couple of ppl in our group had 1500 trucks, and had no problem navigating out.
Cell service is fine in the very beginning, but as you get more into the forest, it’s spotty at best. We had tried one of the first few campsites for 3 nights, and then we stayed closer to Casner Park for 3 nights. Both were great, but no cell service by Casner Park.
The campers seem pretty respectful, they don’t speed by you if you’re walking on the road, and there was very little trash left. That always makes me happy.

Nice area with plenty of shade. The views were awesome. Pretty quiet except for off-road vehicles but they weren’t bothersome to me. I have AT&T and could get service in the evenings, although it was spotty. I would definitely camp here again.

We were in 108 temps in Phoenix but wanted to see Sedona. Camped here and had a lovely cool night! Woke up and hit the road for a 45 min trip to Sedona. Well worth the extra drive time to stay here!

Very easy to access from Munds Park. We were able to find a space was plenty a room very little leveling required, and had great views. Rode in and out was in really good condition. Only drawback was the road cam get a little busy with off highway vehicles. we did have reception with T-Mobile although the further you get away from Munds Park, the weaker the signal.
