Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on June 09, 2022We happened upon this campsite when we drove on Forest Service road 30160 to hike around Porter Reservoir which is just a few hundred yards further down this turnoff. This is a nice grassy spot right off the road. However, if you also drive just a hundred feet or so further down this little road you’ll find another spot as well - slightly more secluded as it’s off the ‘main’ road a bit.
We liked the Hatchet Teton View spot up the hill better because you can see the Teton range and because the cell service is better. However, this is a pretty spot and would definitely work if you got up to Hatchet Teton View and it was taken.
Sorry - sadly I forgot to take a photo of the campsite! But picture a large grassy meadow…Or check it out on Google Earth.

Stayed here to visit the Tetons for a couple of weeks. The site is just off the gravel road. Nice view of the Teton mountains. It’s 2.6 miles off of hiway 26/287 above the Hatchet campground. It’s 11 miles from Grand Teton NP Gate at Moran. Saw 3 other camping spots on the way up but probably for smaller rigs. The gravel road coming up is in good shape for any size rig to come up. They graded the road up just before Labor Day. It can be a little dusty the winds were just right for us and kept the dust blown the other way. There are some camp sites in behind this one toward Porter Lake but for smaller rigs. This is dispersed camping. Pack it in pack it out. Stayed here in a 39’ class A motorhome

No frills campsite. Gravel road was easy to access. Fairly decent view of the Tetons. Some trash left by others, but I’m sure this site is used by a lot of locals too. Saw several dirt bike campers. Rained/snowed while I was here, so ground was pretty muddy.

Several pullouts along this road are available. We stayed at about 43°48'08.0"N 110°22'11.9"W. Road in was washboard and a few ruts, but fine for our SUV+pod. Would not suggest coming up here with anything over 25 feet. Perfect for small bumper pulls, truck campers. Some of the switchbacks would be tough for longer vehicles. Very quiet except for frogs and an early song bird. Some spots more level than others. Best view is first spot not far off the road, or another one further up from our spot. One bar of unusable 4G, didn't bother with booster for one night. Several forest service work trucks came through on Saturday evening.
