Reviews are spot on for this area. Ranger came through daily for trash pick-up. We were told he got a few people for having their dogs off-leash.
Let’s talk about the stream next to snake river that feeds into it. It’s a hot spring runoff! The water was just lovely and just warm enough! This is only at the first campsite (4spots).
We wish we could have stayed longer, but alas!
Easy road to come in on, we have a 30ft TT.

The snow capped mountains, the hot springs river runoff that joins the snake river, the fishing that was incredible, the peace and quiet - WOW.
Beware, it does fill up in the evening. Check out the video and give it a thumbs up if you like it.

GRIZZLY BEAR HERE. At campsite #1 there is a grizzly bear associated with the camp because people did not camp correctly and bear country and it has gotten food. Rangers are watching it but PLEASE if you do not know how to properly camp in bear country do not camp here because the grizzly is actively at this camp site.

(Stayed here 8/14/21): All sites we drove past (3) were occupied when we arrived in the evening (around 6pm). This being summer and a FREE convenient spot between national parks, we weren’t surprised. We decided to park at a pullout at a trailhead. We weren’t sure if we’d get in trouble or not for doing this but no one approached us to move. We left early the next morning (around 630am). There are bathrooms at the posted campsites. The first part of the road in, the forest is burned, surrounded with dead/blackened trees (not safe or attractive to camp amongst). Continuing on past campsite #3, the burn fades and the forest is green and alive again.

The last probably quarter mile is pot hole city!!! Just drive slow. We have a van, and our friends were in a 5th wheel. We made it, it's just super bumpy. There is a vault toilet that was clean and loaded with toilet paper. And there are garbage cans. This site is along the river and we had a beautiful sunset. Unfortunately, there has been a fire in the area and the trees are dead. I understand that if you keep driving the landscape gets better. But we enjoyed this spot nonetheless.
I had zero cell service with my Tmobile.

Security said roads very rough and need redone. Road was closed, other roads in this direction said no public use.
The campground and road is open and you can even access the place with a fifth wheel. You don’t need high clearance at least for the first turnout. It’s just a plane, short gravel road.
There are only four sits at the first campground but there are more on the way down the road.
2 bars with great working Verizon.

Nice spot right on the Snake River. Just up Grassy Lake Rd on the left hand side. The area I camped in had 4 spots I believe. There was pit toilets, fire pits and bear boxes. I posted up in a spot right up off the river. Location really can't be beat if you're looking to go to Tetons or Yellowstone. Also, lodge with amenities/supplies is right up the road. Although, everything was closed except for the store when I was there (Oct. 2nd)
Area was obviously burned a few years back. Most of the trees and the surrounding area is burned. Still pretty however
