“fresh, local, tasty”
Salt is a small Montpelier café serving dishes made with local meats and produce. We change our menu every three weeks, and each time, meld the best seasonal Vermont ingredients with dishes inspired by a place, an event, or even a work of literature. Past menus have been based on the cuisine of Alsace, foods grown and served by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello, and the whimsy of Alice in Wonderland. Owner Suzanne Podhaizer is the former food editor of Seven Days newspaper, and has a self-designed degree in Food Studies from the University of Vermont. In 2008, her food writing won first prize among smaller newspapers in the Association for Alternative Newsweeklies annual AltWeekly awards.
