The Standing tone Monument, in Whittaker Park, next to the Monterey Branch Library is what is left of a prehistoric Indian structure that is said to once resembled an old gray dog sitting on itching kegs pointed due West. After it was removed from its original sit, about a mile west, it was placed in its current location in October, 1895.
OK, so not much of a reason to stop here, but also not too far out of the way.
