“from the moon & back !”
One of an unknown number of trees planted from seeds that were previously taken on the Apollo 14 mission. The coast redwood (sequoia sempervirens) Moon Tree in Monterey, California was planted in July 1976 in Friendly Plaza near Colton Hall. The tree was dedicated to the "people of Monterey to commemorate the Bicentennial of the United States of America, and for the enjoyment of all future generations."
Very nice place to relax on the lawn. Tree was much bigger than I thought. Worth stopping for a quick look. Oldest govt building in CA also here (Custom House)!
