Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on April 11, 2024We were lucky to score spot 17 right next to the bath house and laundry. It was a little tight backing our 42 ft rig into, but once set up we have plenty of space behind the rig for our dogs to potty and kids to play. Laundry is FREE! Weather is perfect here, short drive to see all the fun places. Bike accessibility is dicey, especially with children; campground is up on a hill so the return rides are very taxing, but if it’s just adults, riding isn’t too bad. Only complaint is the airplane noise, but it doesn’t bug us. Would definitely return.

You have to be military or DoD affiliated to get a spot if it wasn't obvious already.
Good sized spots, some are tricky to get into if you have a long rig but it's doable. I watched a few folks take a little bit of time to get parked.
All the spots are mostly level side to side. But 99% of them slope forward pretty steep so make sure you bring with plenty of stabilizers for the front to lift it high enough to level out.
Very clean bathroom/shower/laundry. Only complaint is the slope of the parking spot.
The regional airport is right there so you will hear flights from about 0630-2200 but it's only a couple a day so no biggie.

I was fortunate enough to be able to stay here for 14 days in February and here is the short version of my review:
Amazing location, must be military affiliated (dependent/active duty/etc) great cell service (Site #14 was my site and perfect for Starlink), you are in the flight path of the airport, beautiful golf course.
Here is the longer review:
1. Access: You actually have to drive through the Monterey Pines golf course entrance to get to the park. In fact, they have a designated spot for RVers to use to check in when you pull into the golf course which was super convenient. Check-in was super simple and and you check in inside the pro shop (office is in the back of the pro shop) and Rosalie was super nice. You then follow along the 1st hole of the course and the park actually sits right above the golf course and the row that I was in (see photos) was right above the 2nd hole tee box. Site #14 is right next to the facilities (restrooms/laundry) and was super nice! I read another reviewer who mentioned the sites not being level, but it looks like they have addressed that as during my stay they were actually laying rebar/cement in at least 3 of the spots and totally redoing them. Spot #14 was perfectly level in my opinion. All of the site, except for possibly one of them, are back in and the park is nice and small in terms of number of spaces which is always nice.
2. Location: You cannot beat this location for easy access to downtown Monterey! That said, you are right next to the Monterey airport (more on that below in the 'Noise' section) and the flight path is right next to the park. I was stationed at DLI back in 1989 and it was super convenient from the park and downtown Monterey and DLI is only 10 minutes away.
3. Cleanliness: Park was super clean and they have a crew (like most military parks I have stayed at) that keep it super clean. I didn't see trash laying around ever and the bathrooms/laundry facilities were also super clean. Really, really nice.
4. Site Quality: I have to give it 5 stars overall just based on the location alone - that and the fact that my space was extra wide (it was the handicap space) made it awesome. Had a picnic table and BBQ grill thing and the views from the site were crazy nice. You could actually see the bay (it is a ways off, but you can see it) and the golf course views were sublime.
5. Noise: Okay, so here is the only drawback - the Monterey airport is just to the side of the park and the planes fly until about 8-9PM each night. The planes didn't look too big (no jumbo jets or anything like that) and it isn't non-stop. The noise isn't that bad and I if you have ever stayed at Widbey Island in Washington you will appreciate how much quieter Monterey is in terms of the flyover noise. I was at Widbey and those fighter jets were so loud and flying directly above the park there (and so low!) that my trailer would shake and you couldn't hear anything other than the jet engines. Monterey is definitely NOT like that. Yes, you hear the planes, but it isn't that bad - especially compared to Widbey.
Cell Access: AT&T is definitely the king of the west coast and T-Mobile was awesome too. You are probably wondering how I am commenting on AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. I primarily use Starlink, but my job requires that I have Internet access so I have an AT&T and T-Mobile hotspots for backups and my phone is Verizon. Verizon is never as good as AT&T out west in my experience.
Starlink: Spot #14 was perfect and there were some other spots that would probably work as well, but there are also a bunch of trees in some spaces that would make Starlink a non-starter. The 3-4 spaces to the left of the laundry/restrooms would work great, but once you get a little further towards the exit-end of the park there are tons of trees.
Overall, this was an easy 5-stars for me and I can't wait for another opportunity to stay here again!
Cheers,
Travis

We have stayed here before and it’s a good place. Location is good. They have a real issue with some of the sites being very unlevel so make sure you bring a lot of blocks and a step ladder to get in to your rig.
