“abandoned hotel”

This place is on private property. Listing for informational purposes only. Please do not visit without express permission from the land owner. The Delta Lake Hotel is an abandoned hotel in the Monte Alto area rumored to be haunted by the sprit of a woman who was killed inside the building in 2007. Originally built on 53,000 acres of land in 1929 by W.A. Harding, the Delta started off as a luxurious place for potential land buyers to stay while they were courting the idea of investing in the area. Unfortunately, in the 1930′s the Great Depression put an end to Harding’s dreams of creating a community, and the land became property of the American Life Insurance Company. In 1960 the hotel was left to decompose in the woods. Explore at your own risk.

So glad I went ! Very cool and kinda creepy. I know this is common sense but wear close toed shoes! There are a lot of fire ants around the grounds and they loved chopping on my toes because I wore flip flops.

In 1941, the former mansion became the headquarters of Rio Farms known as the clubhouse. Rio Farms was a New Deal inspired cooperative farming and resettlement project run by the Farm Security Administration. 125 Texas families, mostly sharecroppers and tenant farmers, were relocated to 25,000 newly reclaimed and irrigated acres around the building each given 60 to 80 acres, farming equipment and a house which they paid for on a long term mortgage. The clubhouse was the center of social life for community. The project's expansion was interrupted by the war and never fully completed. After the war the building became the Delta Lake Hotel (Delta Lake is the artificial lake built adjacent to the structure).

@Bubblyalice I went around 10 months ago. Amazing place. Incrdible and interesting but you have to be careful. This place is really hounted. I went inside and the view were really nice and that mysterious abounded feeling was awesome. There used to live 2 people in a small house next to the mansion, a mother and son. Note: the mansion was burnt already. To make story short, the son tried to get money left from a dead father and he assasinated his mother brutally to get it. She was shot several times then burned until no body recognition to leave no marks. She was found 25 days later as what I know. The son is in prison as in right now! I have read she was found next to the house they lived in and also that she was found in the basement of the burnt hotel. The basement being the one in the photo. A few months ago I went for a motorcycle ride and the place was still there. But there was industrial machinery. I think ther wanted to demoliah the place. Hopefully it is still there. Watch out for the police if you try to go inside. I do not recommend going alone.
