Great park. Beautiful views from the overlook. Campground was nice. Very shady and quiet even with a lot of visitors. Bathroom was clean and showers were hot. Playground was nice for our toddler. Yellow flys were bad here. They also don't have the state park passports or badges.
Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is a 22,000-acre preserve considered to be the most significant natural and historic areas in Florida. More than 20 distinct biological communities provide a rich array of habitats for wildlife and livestock, including alligators, bison, horses and more than 270 species of birds. Exhibits and an audio-visual program at the visitor center explain the area´s natural and cultural history. A 50-foot-high observation tower near the visitor center provides a panoramic view of the preserve. The park offers hiking, bird watching, fishing, camping, picnicking, and bicycling. Natural and cultural exhibits are located in the Visitors Center.
