“keepin it wild since 1948”
Zoo Miami (also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens) is the largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida, and the only sub-tropical zoo in the continental United States. The unique climate in South Florida allows us to keep a wide variety of animals from Asia, Australia and Africa, representing a broad mix of species that is unlike any other zoo in the country. Our animals are grouped according to their geographic territories, with species that live together peacefully in the wild placed in exhibits together here at the zoo. Our trees, foliage and even our soil are matched as closely as possible to the native habitats of our animals.
Great zoo and fun for the family
Zoo Miami is the largest and oldest zoo park in Florida! In addition to a special Everglades animal exhibit (with a river ride!), you’ll find species from Africa, Australia and Asia. Get a lay of the land by starting with the monorail ride around the park, and be sure to finish at the Critter Connection petting zoo.
When you start to feel the heat, head for the water park…just be sure to watch the clock for scheduled animal feedings and events throughout the zoo. We love the giraffe feedings!
Speaking of feeding…when it’s time to feed your own kiddos, there is food at one of 4 restaurants inside Zoo Miami, including a newly opened indoor seating cafe in the Everglades area of the park.
