“visit the meticulously manicured grounds”
Located just east of the original Mesa Townsite, settled by Mormon pioneers, the Mesa Arizona Temple anchors a historic district, which has predominantly retained its residential character. A public visitors' center shares the meticulously manicured grounds of the temple, which feature a cactus garden and large reflection pools. The Easter season brings thousands of guests to the temple grounds every year to watch Jesus the Christ, the largest annual outdoor easter pageant in the world. At Christmas time, the grounds are converted to an exquisite Nativity display accented by hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights.
The LDS Temple in Mesa Arizona is not "PERMANENTLY CLOSED" the church has been doing a full scale remodeling and its been closed for a couple years, it's set to have to public open house this December (2021) and the dedication shortly after that. Ya'll should fix that on the app...anyhoo, the Temple is a sacred place to feel the spirit of God and to learn and grow closer to Him. What takes place in the Temple is sacred and must be treated as such. The new grounds at the Temple are truly amazing! The church has outdone themselves again! Not only have they remodeled the temple but the old houses that were super old and falling apart, they purchased and tore them down and have built beautiful apartment homes, condos and a Deseret Book Store. I'm not sure if any other businesses will be around there, but along with the apts and bookstore they have a huge Visitor Center and I believe they have a Family History Center as well. I have been told they will continue t b e Christmas lights and Easter Pageant buy have not heard an official word from the church on either.
A special peaceful visit is here for all who seek peace and answers. At Christmas beautiful lights, nativities, and sculptures add to the wandering experience.
