Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on June 19, 2023If staying here, please show appreciation to city of Memphis by visiting one of their local businesses, if nothing else for fuel and snacks. Stayed March 25th 2022. The park is on the other side of town from the hwy, but it's a small town. We stayed in the first site on the left (East side) and the electrical pole tested good with no issues. We were the only ones there and it was a nice quiet location at the back of the park (South side) near what looked to be a permanently closed pool. We pulled in at dusk and left at dawn, but it seemed like a nice little park. The spot was fairly flat so I was able to manually level without disconnecting from the truck. We had a 33' 5th wheel and with the truck still attached, it would seem difficult for a second 5th wheel or motorhome of similar size to easily get past us and connect. However, the sites appear to get smaller as you go back (South) or wouldn't fit anything but smaller campers on the (West) pool side so my full rig may block more of the path in if I move further back. If I visit gain, I will either disconnect from truck or move back a site or two on the East side in case someone else wanted to pull in later and grab the sites closer to the road. We used a Verizon jetpack with no problem and watched a little TV as we ate, before going to bed.
There seems to be some confusion about needing a permit to stay. I called once about a month out and they said I just needed to call before coming in to get a permit. I called again the week before and they said I didn't need a permit, but to just call them when I was arriving and let them know the vehicle I was in so the local police were aware. Then I called as we were pulling into Memphis and they said we didn't need to do anything, just go park. This is also when we were told the water was off due to being 'winterized', which is odd since they appeared to have the freeze-proof hydrant's. We had our own water, so no problem.

A city park campground with water and electric hookups was new to me. I think it's closed right now so nothing was working but I was still able to stay here overnight with no issues. The campground is next to an old pool which clearly hasn't been used in some time, and across from the park which was still hoppin' last night with families having picnics and playing ball. Things quieted down by dark. Bathrooms in park with flushing toilets. Nobody bothered me or the other vehicle here about permits. Overall a nice spot. I'd stay again for an overnight.

Nice town park in the small town of Memphis. It is an easy overnight stop. It was 94 degrees here with winds up to 25 mph in late April, plan accordingly. Nobody bothered me regarding permits. Had full LTE coverage with sprint/t-mobile. Would stay here again.

We arrived the park on 5/13, they are having the park opening ceremony, there are two police cars, so we stopped and asked about camping, the police told us the parking spot and camping is free so does water and electricity, he didn’t require us to apply for permit. Temperature here is 93F.

We stayed for 2 nights. Spot one is theblargest and glad we got there 1st. We needed the space with our 5th wheel and truck. The park itself is interesting with a lot to look at as far as structures and things others already posted in photos. We were the first ones there and shortly after 3 others vehicles/campers showed up. All 3 left early the next morning. Bathrooms are single person and water in sink didn't work in ladies but it wasn't an issue. Water at RV. Just bring wipes or sanitizer. The town itself is what I would call a "dying" town but if you love run down buildings and sites it's neat to see! They also have an old church from 1911 they have restored and you can get a tour of you set it up at city hall. We ate at an amazing little Cafe/boutique called the cottage. Absolutely delicious and veggies come from owners garden!!

100 degrees and the electric is not on. I didn’t call ahead, but just before dark another camper came in who had called ahead and was not told the electric was off. I’m not complaining but I’m having an issue with the gen running both a/c units. Will stay as it’s free and make do alternating the a/c units

The park is at the end of a long street (seemed like the park is set at the edge of town). As you drive through the park, the RV camping area is at the far left corner by the swimming pool. You pull in through an open gate to enter camping area. There was one RV when we arrived at 3pm Sunday but by early evening time there were five. My husband felt safe and would definitely go back. He said the pool area was lit up like an airport at night. Personally, I thought it was a little creepy tucked in the far corner of the park. We spoke to another RVer and he also loved it! I really appreciate Memphis providing this service to weary travelers--it's very cool. Of note: Big rigs might have a space issue if they are last to arrive. A 5th wheel had to get quite creative with his parking, but he did it. Happy Travels!

We arrived on Jan 31 late. There were barriers at the entrance to the park so we slept outside the barriers on the shoulder. We have a van, no trailer. No idea if we were supposed to be there or not but it was late. Might have been nice if it were open but having it be closed when we arrived at bed time wasn't wonderful. I would not stay again.
