Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on August 07, 2023This is a top spot for staying in the Melbourne area when we want a nature feeling around us, while still having access to shopping, dining and errands.
The campground is a bit of a hodgepodge setup - over 100 sites around a few ponds. Some sites are super huge, others are super tiny. All have full hook-ups with 50A power, and there's no designated right way in which to park. You can back in, pull in or find your perfect view.
Overall, a great park with a lot to offer right around - walking, hiking, biking, archery, disc golf, farmer's market, etc. The park itself can be quite hustling with activity, but the campground is somewhat secluded.
On weekends, it can get a bit crowded with locals on vacation, and since the park allows long term stays you'll find a mix of folks using the campground as temporary tent housing, seasonal snowbirds and RVers working locally. All and all, everyone seems to get along just fine.
One ding is the brand new sewer hookups are a bit awkwardly placed and aligned - making it difficult to fit most sewer hose connections.

This County Park was strictly OK for us. We needed to find a place on the Space Coast for a few days to watch a rocket launch. It was tough to find a reservation. We chanced upon an opening here. Turns out, we were lucky...getting space in here during the winter is difficult due to the large number of snow birds.
Check-in was not smooth. Apparently there was an event in the park just prior to our arrival, and someone verbally told the camping participants they could stay an extra night without telling the park office. As a result, someone was on our initially assigned site AND on the "emergeny" site used for situations like ours. We ended up on a third site for the first night and then had to move to our initial site for the last two nights. All in all, staff was apologetic and tried to do right by us. I would recommend they instituate a procedure to make sure all those who are supposed to be gone are.
The sites vary in size, but were able to handle our tall 40' rig. All hookups worked well. Over the air TV was not a problem. Verizon was excellent.
The snow birds were very friendly. Upon arrival, we immediately got invited to a pancake breakfast and bingo.
This place is not an RV resort. But the price is right.

Wickham Park sits in the middle of Melbourne, Florida. But you’d never know it from inside the park or the campground. It’s a county park with an archery range, equestrian events, a light show during the holidays and wildlife wandering around the rest of the time. It’s not a pristine rule enshrouded RV resort, but it’s green, mostly shady and the park rangers don’t bother you unless there’s a problem. The sites are mostly spacious but there can be lots of water around in the rainy season and if a hurricane blows through you will have to evacuate and it can be a couple of weeks before power and cleanup is complete.

In the weeks leading up to our stay here, we saw some news articles and reports about homeless guests and rowdy neighbors that gave us pause for concern about our choice to stay here. We are glad we discounted those and elected to evaluate this place on our own.
Recent rule changes and security measures seem to have alleviated any issues. We walked extensively in all three campground loops and saw zero areas of concern. Saw many snowbirds, lots of well-behaved dogs, and generally friendly folks.
Restroom and laundry rooms are well maintained and completely adequate for us.
Our site was wide and open and because there is no specific required orientation for your unit, many options are available regarding your set up.

We loved it here. All the amenities that are great in a county park. Full hookups, Washer/dryers, showers, garbage/recycling, Fishing, a fenced dog park with dog bath, a great fitness path plus nature trails, disc golf, horseshoes, an on-site mailbox... and I’m sure I’m forgetting more! With a generous maximum stay, good luck getting in here! We did so it does happen! Sites are not private at all, except 85, which we lucky to get. It does take a small rig to get into though.

This park is awesome. Some sites are light-years better than others - but both of the sites we stayed in were spacious and separated from others. Looking around, that definitely is not the case for the majority of the sites here.
Also, the sites are a bit janky - not overly level and only semi developed - BUT - there is tons of green space, and a plethora of both park and local amenities within walking distance. Sadly, we were here during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we weren't able to use any of these amenities or walking distance luxuries (cough-cough STARBUCKS). There is even a farmers market in the park on Thursday evenings (not running when we stayed).
The electric situation here is.. strange. Claims to be 50A, but that is debatable. We flipped the breaker several times - and noted our neighbor needing to reset his semi-frequently too. Otherwise, water, sewer and 30A/50A available. Water pressure kinda blows - but usable. We didn't investigate the bathrooms.
Plenty of running areas - within the park there is a paved loop, some sandy trails, or outside the park to the beach along the sidewalk.
Definitely some characters in this park. Long term /seasonal stays are accepted, so you have folks using this park as their seasonal snowbird location. When we were here the park was slowly emptying out, as they had stopped permitting new reservations or reservation extensions (COVID-19).
Tons of tortoises throughout the park. A horse park here too - so fun to see the ponies galavant around.
We really enjoyed it here - and are looking forward to visiting again during better circumstances.

Last open spot for the time slot we needed- its the back lot C - not as green, no trees in the lot, but very quiet. The public park attached to this campground is very nice and super clean. My husband did have to to work online. Had a good connection for this. This is an older campground not fancy. Bathhouses are older but clean. Not for the spoiled princess types.
This is our second time here when visiting family. We like it.

The campground was very nice, quiet, spacious sites. However, be sure you get your site number in writing with your confirmation. We were told site 4 when we made the reservation and site 4 was circled on the map when we checked in on Sunday. But, on Tuesday, we received a call saying that we were given the wrong site and we would need to move to site 3 by 11 the next morning. We did, thinking they must have a regular customer coming in. However, we were there until Saturday and nobody came into that spot. Poor customer service in my opinion.

We stayed for two nights in site 15. Easy to get into, level and full service. Really quiet overnight. Did hear a train, maybe one overnight. Close to beaches. About 45 minutes to KSC. Would definitely stay again.

We loved our time here! The campground is located at the back of the park. When you enter from the main entrance the ranger entrance is on your right which is where you'll check in. We arrived after 5PM and they were already closed even thouugh the email we received said that check-in was from 2PM-9PM but we checked in the next morning and didn't have a problem. FYI, they do take a photocopy of EVERYONE that's staying on the campsite ID's not just the person who made the reservation. They have 3 different loops (A-C). We walked around them and Loop A is pretty tight but you have some nice shade, Loop B (which is where we were) was spacious but shade was a hit or miss depending on your site, Loop C was tight with no shade. Not sure about the other loops but our loop had the hook-ups on the wrong side so we had to pull our camper in and unhook then pull our truck back around BUT we had so much room that it was never an issue for us. One camper even pulled in parallel to the hook-up's and still had a lot of room. The park is your typical city park. Had a playground, a couple of small ponds, dog park, picnic areas, disc golf, etc. It was an amazing park! The weekend that we stayed they were having a Blueberry Festival. My husband was speaking to the people who were in the site next to us who seemed to be snowbirds and they were saying that they heard that they will be increasing the night rate from $23 to $40ish a night and the max number of days you could stay would be reduced from 180 to 90 next year but I'm not sure how true this is. They also mentioned that they have events/festivals just about every weekend. Our last night there we had a women that showed up later in the evening who seemed to be homeless and pitched a tent under a tree that was close to our site. It was our last night there, we never heard a peep out of her, and she kept all of her belongings nice and tidy so we didn't mind. In some other reviews i've read about this park is that they had some trouble with homeless people in the past coming to camp but I guess that has mostly been resolved because she was the only one that we noticed. There's also a ranger on duty 24-7 if you end up having an issue with anything so that was nice.
