“you'll fall in love with Idaho”
Beautiful Payette Lake is the centerpiece of Ponderosa State Park, located in the heart of one of Idaho's most popular year-round destinations. Hike and bike on your own or with a guide, listen to a park naturalist around an evening campfire, let the kids ride to the Visitor Center for ice cream treats, rent a canoe or kayak and meander along the Payette River, snowshoe on a groomed trail or simply sit on the front porch of a park cabin and enjoy the spectacular view. Whether you enjoy cooking in a Dutch oven at a primitive camp site or an indoor stove in the comfort of a deluxe, lake view cabin, Ponderosa State Park has every kind of overnight experience imaginable with a variety of standard and serviced campsites, or cabins for small or large groups.

This loop is a mix of pull-through sand back-ins and they all are well spaced with plenty of room. Picnic tables and grill/fire pits. Lots of bike and walking trails in the park. It’s also on the beautiful Payette Lake. An easy bike ride to town with many restaurants to choose from. A few local touristy and souvenir shops. A couple of craft breweries in town too. Great birding in the park also. We had the local deer walk through our site a few times a day. We always love that. The one downside is you must by Idaho park passes for each vehicle or pay the $5 a day for each vehicle. So it depends on how many Idaho state parks you will visit if the park pass or the extra $10 a day is worth it. But we love this park and would definitely come back if we are in the area again. We were here in June and had snow!

We camped here for the weekend of the 4th of July. I amazingly found a site 2 days before the weekend. I was a little concerned going in that it was going to be overly crowded and noisy.. I was completely wrong and pleasantly surprised. The campground was completely full, but in our site, we were in our own secluded slice of heaven. Deer would wander through frequently, with 7 coming through our site at once one night.
The amenities at this campground are extensive. Having full hookups in this setting for $30/night is amazing. There are extensive trails all over the park and great beaches to play in the lake. I absolutely love this park and will be going back anytime I get the chance.

Stayed here before but it rained the whole time so didn’t get to enjoy all the great activities. 12 miles off trail to walk and 8 miles off biking and lots of water stuff, hot showers, and good cell service. Glad we came back and definitely coming back again.
