“A Scandinavian experience”
Welcome to Nestledown Bed and Breakfast in Marquette, Michigan. Nestledown was designed to reflect the Finnish/Scandinavian heritage of the Innkeepers and Upper Michigan’s immigrant past. The Bed and Breakfast is open year round and will offer comfort, breakfast, quiet, a warm fire, sunny windows, fresh air, gathering spaces, walkability, a sauna and dramatic connections to Lake Superior and the Marquette region. The location of the Inn couldn’t be sweeter. We are right in the middle of everything Marquette. You will be just 175 steps to Lake Superior’s shore, on the bike path, walking distance to Historic Downtown Marquette with all the unique shops and restaurants. The Farmer’s Market and ice rink are downtown. Mattson’s Lower Harbor Park and Marina hosts many of the 13 festivals held yearly. A busy marina with charter fishing a fish cleaning station and Yacht club for sailing are located at the Lower Harbor. Presque Isle park, also called the upper harbor is a geological gem with forests for hiking, a break wall where you can witness the strength of Lake Superior, biking, walking on the one way road, cross country skiing , snowshoeing, spectacular sunsets, concerts at the band shell, ice cream, surfing, and the Black Rocks. Have you ever cliff jumped? It is very cool to be at Presque Isle and watch the ships come in to the ore dock for a pickup of iron ore and to unload coal. Grab a pasty dinner and watch the ships do what they do. Marquette is home to Northern Michigan University with the Superior Dome, a US Olympic training site for Greco-Roman wrestling and weightlifting, the Berry Events Center for Division 1 College Hockey and NMU sporting events, Forest Roberts theatre and all the great academic programs NMU offers. We are located within walking distance to Lakeview Arena, Picnic Rocks, Mc Carty’s Cove beach, Third street shops and restaurants, UP Health System-Marquette, and we are a short drive to Marquette Mountain Ski Hill, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Mountain bike trails, cross country ski trails, ATV and off roading trails.(If you need a trail Marquette County has it). If you want a museum you will find them, each unique and interesting. Come and visit wonderful Marquette and plan to stay at Nestledown your Scandinavian red cottage by The Lake. We consider it a privilege to offer this unique lodging experience to each of you and look forward to meeting you.
