“observatory for public viewing”
The Bette M. and William R. Weaver Student Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy (MIRA). It is located in Marina, California, adjacent to the campus of the California State University, Monterey Bay. Although public tours of the MIRA Oliver Observing Station are scheduled every month in the summer, a need for a more easily accessed observatory for public viewing was long recognized. When MIRA obtained the Ft. Ord site, the opportunity to convert a small building to a student observatory presented itself.

We found this little place last weekend! Headed back to Marina today - will see if we can go check it out!
