“year-round camping available!”
Curry Hammock is made up of a group of islands in the Middle Keys, with public access to swimming, a playground, picnic tables, grills and showers on the ocean side of Little Crawl Key. The hardwood hammocks found on these tropical islands support one of the largest populations of thatch palms in the United States. Mangrove swamps, seagrass beds and wetlands provide vital habitats for tropical wildlife. The blue land crabs have emerged from their holes and have joined our summer campers. They may be seen scurrying along our roads, trails, campground, and other use areas as they make their way to their favorite summertime spot. We encourage you to join our crabs in their adventure and find a special summertime retreat with us. Campground reservations are already in short supply; so don't wait to make yours through Reserve America. The campground enjoys a nice sea breeze most days which keeps temperatures down. For the birdwatchers, we have already seen white-crowned pigeons feasting on their favorite treat, poisonwood berries. For those who want to explore the shallow pristine waters which surround our park, kayak and paddleboard rentals are available through the Ranger Station daily between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
