“Explore a creek with a dozen small waterfalls”
Just a few miles inland from Florence, the waterfalls of this dramatic Coast Range gorge are accessed by an easy trail. Visit in April or May to see woodland wildflowers, including big white trilliusm and a rare breed of pink fawn lilies.
If you are a couch potatoes this trail doable but takes some effort. Don't be afraid to rest periodically, certainly enough scenery to justify frequent stops even before waterfall attractions. Bonus for us on way back about 3 miles from Sweet Creek trail we were treated to a herd of elk grazing in an open field .
At Siuslaw bridge in Mapleton, leave Highway 126 and go south on Sweet Creek Road. A beautiful 11 mile (18 km) drive will take you to the first trailhead. Parking lots are available at each trailhead. Eleven waterfalls in all.
The location on the map is not where the falls are located. You must follow sweet creek road about 10 miles but it's worth the drive. Beautiful! Hike the path it's amazing!
