“An incredible work of art hidden in the sandstone caves..”
NOTE: this cave is on private property, some people have gained access to this and/or the other similar caves in area, but only by putting in effort to make friends with locals and land owners. The Tree of Human Kindness is one of a series of ornate underground mediation cave chambers carved directly into the sandstone rock of the New Mexico desert. The smaller chamber features smooth carved walls, streams of natural light from mountainside skylights and sensual, sweeping lines. The larger of the two chambers features a large, intricately carved "Tree of Human Kindness," candlelit niches, recessed seating and various breathtaking side rooms that are washed in sunlight. A mile walk in the wilderness becomes a pilgrimage journey to a hand dug, elaborately sculpted cave complex illuminated by the sun through multiple tunneled windows. The cave is both a shared ecumenical shrine and an otherworldly venue for presentations and performances designed to address issues of social welfare and the art of well being.
This is not Tree of Human Kindness. That cave is on private land and is closed up to public because of vandalism. Owners have put door with lock on it. Windows of the Earth IS available to view, legally, with a reservation for a docent led tour. Contact Origin at Rancho de San Juan, OriginNewMexico.com to see this amazing hand carved sandstone creation of Ra Paulettes! Please respect neighbors private property and go get a tour of one legally!
The Cave is closed to visitors due to vandalism as of spring 2021. bummer for us locals that really enjoyed the cave :(
The cave and its surrounding land is up for sale at the moment! http://newmexicospiritualland.com/
