We really had our fingers crossed that there would be Verizon service here but there was not so we didn't stay.
However, this was a beautiful campground! We would definitely stay if we hadn't needed cell service. Some sites are along the water, some are up on the hill with beautiful views. There are areas the pups could have easily gotten into the water for some swim time. The area appeared to be well kept with electric sites available.
Be aware that the road up is curvy and rather steep but not undoable with a trailer. There were large trailers at the campground but as we were driving back down, one truck was definitely burning his brakes up with his 5th wheel! Yikes!
You need a daily county park pass to camp here which is available a few miles down the hill at the North entrance to Carson Lake where you can also check for first come sites if you don't make reservations ahead of time.

We went to Pinewood for our maiden voyage in a new hybrid TT. Because it was before the official camping season starts on May 1st the potable water was not on yet and we were able to reserve one of the Handicap sites right next to the lake to enjoy our first time out.
Each evening the elk came down from the hills to romp and play in the water across the lake, an osprey hunted, there were deer and turkeys wandering across the road behind us. There is a 3 mile walking trail that goes around the reservoir that is easy to walk and quite beautiful.
Restrooms are clean, as well as campground in general.
This is a popular fishing spot and there are many non-camping families who come up on weekends to picnic and fish. Evenings are quiet and serene with no cell service.

This place is awesome. There is no cell service here at all, but as soon as you hop over the tiny pass 5 mins out, you get service. We had scoped out this campground ahead of time, so we knew we wanted to camp at site 9. The sites are so few overall, and pretty far apart in most sections, so there really is no bad spot here. Sites up on the hill have narrow paths down to the reservoir. The small reservoir is a very popular day trip fishing location - but we used our inflatable row boat to bop around the reservoir. We LOVED this campground. Love it.

We spent last Saturday at Pinewood Reservoir with a large family group. The park was crowded and busy that day. The camp host, Robert, met us as we pulled into the park, and assisted us with finding parking for all our vehicles. Despite being busy, he was pleasant and kind. We saw him multiple times throughout the afternoon and each time he greeted us with a friendly word. He thanked us for coming as we packed up our belongings. He made our experience an even better day.
