“The American Victorian treasure”
This historic district of Louisville is said to be one of the largest preservation districts and Victorian neighborhoods in the country. It’s no wonder that spirits lingering beyond the grave find it an attractive place to reside! There are reportedly many ghost tours and haunted houses here, and locals may tell you of dozens of ghost stories. Some have dubbed Old Louisville America’s Most Haunted Neighborhood.
Really cool to drive around this area of town. The houses are huge and it really makes you think about who used to live in them, how things have changed, and how that's not really a thing anymore-- to build rows of mansions in random cities across the country.
The houses are incredible, but saying that doesn't give them enough justice. If you drive through and have any sense of imagination, it's amazing to picture what that neighborhood used to look like. It's sad that so many of the houses are broken up into apartments and rented to college kids. However, there's still hope! If you want to see a perfectly preserved block, take a stroll through St. James Court. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Beautiful houses loved driving and walking through the area.
Loooved the old houses they're gorgeous!
I've lived a lot of places, but nowhere quite compares to Old Louisville for strolls in Autumn and late night drives. Is it haunted? Probably. But that's part of the charm.
