“Nurturing wildlife!”
The Los Angeles Zoo, founded in 1966, is a 113 acre zoo located in Los Angeles, California. The City of Los Angeles owns the entire zoo, its land and facilities, and the animals. The Zoo is home to more than 1,100 mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles representing more than 250 different species of which 29 are endangered. In addition, the Zoo’s botanical collection comprises several planted gardens and over 800 different plant species with over 7,400 individual plants. The Zoo receives over 1.5 million visitors per year and is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles.
If you have a family that loves animals and is willing to walk high and low hills in order to see them, then Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens is the place to spend a great day.
My children loved seeing all these different animals playing around. Although the zoo itself is not so big, everything is well organised and most of the animals are human friendly, so the do not hide or sleep.
The zoo is close to LA and easily reached by car, the parking is free and you can have some packed lunch from home and sit and enjoy it at the specified picnic areas.
The young volunteers will guide you through everything. They are very kind and helpful.
I loved this zoo it was so fun!
