The generally poor upkeep. Yes, the pool was nice, but having someone scoop out the debris every once in a while would make it even nicer. Terrible showers. Dirt sites. Not recommended.

Yogis Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort (formerly KOA Tower Park). Campground is South of Sacramento, maybe 45 miles close to the I-5. We had a great time. This time it was just us two adults. Made the reservation the morning of arrival. We live in Southern California and it was our last weekend before vacation ended. There are not a lot of 50 amp sites. We did have a choice of 4 remaining. It was in front of the pool. Yes, there were kids playing and having a great time. The noise level was equivalent to a school playground-just happy sounds and all were well behaved. We were not bothered at all. Lots of families just enjoying the wonderful weather. It is also a boating area. Enjoyed cocktails at the local on site restaurant-Rosa's. Staff was wonderful. Sites are close together. Lots of shade trees. We were the 3rd site from end, but had great timing, in that for 3/4 of a day we had an unobstructed view of the pool. We are planning a family reunion next year because the campground had all we needed. There is WiFi but did not connect to theirs. Had phone service, but no clue on # of bars. We have Verizon. Our rate was a wknd rate and included a $2 resort fee.

We stayed over Labor Day Weekend, it was a wild party scene with out of control kids and drunk people. Neighbor was building big bonfire which nearly burned down the campsite. Kids came for the water park, if you want a quiet place to stay go somewhere else. Wifi and cellular reception not so good due to trees and rural location. Close to Highway 12 and I-80.

I just got back from a long weekend here, at one of the “red-carpet, pull-thru full hookup” spots. I could see what some reviewers were saying about the uncontrolled children and general rowdiness but that wasn’t applicable in the red-carpet area of the resort. The larger, expensive sites were in a very quiet area.
The kids playground is, however too far from this area to walk to (easily) and we rented a $75-a-day electric golf cart to get around the resort. As the day gets later, all playground rules (no horseplay etc) go out the window as parents get drunker so it would be nice if staff would try to enforce that a bit, for the safety of the younger children. That rule and the “no driving the golf buggies if you’re under 18”. The same irresponsible parents were letting their 10-year-olds drive these carts unsupervised and they were crashing and causing hazards.
With all that said, we had an amazing time because it was freedom at its fullest. There were no mask nazis trying to force us to wear oxygen-depleters.
It had something for everyone and we all had a lot of fun.

We had a back-in dirt/grass site with FHU's. Based on all the activities offered (when they are open) I would have given this an overall 5 star rating. However my rating got affected by both the park itself & the weather. 4 of 5 days we were in a severe wind/dust storm which coated every interior surface of our MH with fine, black dust. It was impossible to enjoy sitting outside the rig. There was major construction going on at the marina area, the restaurant was closed for construction/remodel. The ice cream shop is no more. The park was having equipment issues with stuff like the water pumps used on the water features. The May Day weekend crowd was of the loud, rude, vulgar language types. Nobody follows posted rules whether they be of traffic directions, picking up after dogs, bicycle safety rules, etc. The big weekend crowd as a whole I guess never saw any of the trash cans scattered EVERYWHERE throught the grounds. What was worse is 3 days after the weekend the same garbage was still scattered around the grounds. The grounds crew did mow some of the sites, but left the clippings on the ground and sidewalks. I was outside my rig when I took a rock to the noggin from the groundskeeper weed-eating a vacant site of grass and gravel across the street from me. Unfortunately at the same time my MH windshield also took 2 hits from the weed-eating, creating 2 nice divots (no star chips, yet). At least the worker stopped when I told him. No returns in our future. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Tower Park in a Motorhome.
