We had thought having access to a boat ramp and the very large Livingston Lake would be a nice bonus while we were here. We carry our bikes and our kayak's so it seems like a good idea. The wind (during our stay) was nearly constant to the point we couldn't really use our kayak's but once. No real biking around here either. We ended up buying a yearly pass to the Lake Livingston State Park just minutes down the road. We made it our daily trek for exercise and scenery during our stay.
The West Livingston area as a whole is fairly run down with not a lot to see or do. We never really found to many "nice" area's around town at all. The upside to Livingston is that we didn't meet one unfriendly person! We received more "Howdy's" from the locals than I have up to this point in my life.
The Campendium site says the surface is grass, while it is for the boat ramp parking area the RV sites are on gravel (no biggie). We did get a pretty good amount of rain a couple of days into our stay making the parking area somewhat soft. I had our leveling jacks fully extend into the soft ground on a couple of occasions. Be aware you might need some "extra's" under your jack pads while setting up.
There are some pluses to staying here...A monthly rate of $375 wasn't bad at all for what you get. A full hook up site, cable TV and wifi. We were told the wifi wasn't all that great but really only had a few times we switched over to our hotspot. The host couple were very nice and very easy to talk with. They also run the bait store at the boat ramp area. It also seemed like there were a few rigs here full-time or stored here for occasional use. The campground seem more quiet because of the fact that most people were either inside there RV or not here at all.
Overall, it was a place to stay while we worked out our "location" issue's. The reason we wouldn't return is we are in need of more walking/riding area's where we like to camp. I guess it felt like we were trapped here...maybe that was just us.
