Confirmed by 6 users | Last reported on August 09, 2023We rolled in late on a Thursday night and basically had the whole campground to ourselves. We couldn't believe it at first but it was a 100% free with electric AND water hook ups.The first 4 nights are free and after that they just ask for a donation. It's right off a main road but the sound of the traffic isn't bad at all. We slept really great and I was even able to go to Ace Hardware 100ft away in the morning to fix something on the camper.

Pulled in not knowing what to expect - quiet little park. Stayed for 2 days FREE and it was quiet at all hours - day and night. There are 8 small, back in spots for smaller rigs and 2 large spots for pull through. Had no problem with my 35 foot class A and tow vehicle. Left the rig while we went to spend the day In Clovis NM (About 60 miles away). No problems with anything. There is food close by.

While the town of Littlefield itself is not particularly packed with things to do, the people here are all very friendly and nice. We enjoyed the grounds -- everything was clean and well cared for. The lawn was neat, the garbage bins were plentiful, and the electric was free. Water and a dump on site. They've even removed some of the posts so you can back bigger rigs into the spots without having to unhook. Trees for shade. Picnic tables and shade for each spot. Not a big park, but nicely cared for and totally free.
If you get free time, "Waymore's" the Waylon Jennings museum and liquor store (no joke) is about a quarter mile up the street. If you are into Outlaw Country it's a must, not because it's fancy, but because you'll get to hear stories firsthand from Waylon's family.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the location isn't near anything fun.

Had a very nice time here. 2 things to watch out for 1) when it rains some sites end up with large muddy puddles 2) I found 3 doggie poop bombs in my site upon arrival, the rest of the 3 days 3 more poop bombs in my site. Other campers were letting their dogs run loose-no leash/or owner and were not cleaning up after them. I have no pets so it’s one of my pet peeves!

Okay, maybe if all of this were out in the wilderness instead of right off a main highway, then it'd be better. ;-) But honestly, this is a GREAT deal for people traveling through, people wanting to recharge their batteries, or anyone wanting to stay somewhere while shopping in Lubbock. One of the last places that we stayed (in Slaton, TX, in the Slaton City Park), we were closer to Lubbock – there, it's only a 20-minute drive, whereas here in Littlefield, it's a 40-minute drive. On the other hand, Slaton City Park had no hook-ups, and here at Waylon Jennings, there is FREE unlimited electricity and water.
Soooo...decide which is more important to you and go from there. :-)
The basics:
1) FREE water hook-ups at every site, so you can run off city water instead of filling your tank. NOTE: The water pressure seems really high (probably so that in theory all of the sites could pull water at the same time and the system would be able to handle it) so do be sure to use a water-pressure regulator when hooking up to their system.
2) FREE dump station at the end of the campground, farthest from the road. There's a faucet with a hose attached to it; it doesn't say either way, but I personally would NOT be willing to fill the tank in my RV with fresh water from this hose since it is mostly used to wash out the black and gray tanks of RVs.
3) FREE dumpster to throw trash away.
4) FREE electricity at each site – this is a little more iffy, however. There are two large pull-through sites meant for Class A's or just for people not wanting to back into a spot, and out of those two spots, only one has a working electric pedestal. Also, some of the back-in sites have pedestals that when you open the cover, you find that tape has been used to cross over apparently bad outlets. :-} Again, I would NOT hook up to any of these pedestals without having a proper surge protector in place to protect your electrical system in your RV.
5) The internet here is awesome-sauce – we use Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint, and had great data and phone on all three; fast and usable without our booster turned on.
6) If you're into horseshoes, man are you going to be happy here. They apparently have some real horseshoe aficionados in this town because there is what I'd consider to be a tournament set-up for the game. The RV park is also directly next to a baseball field and on Sunday afternoon when we pulled in here, there were games going on all afternoon and evening. A real family spot. :-)
7) The sites are level and pretty easy to get into, and the back-in sites are mostly shaded which is nice. (The pull-through sites are not shaded at all). The back-in sites also have picnic tables to sit at (the pull-through sites do not).
8) There is a four-day stay limit here (instead of the standard three at city parks like this) so that's real nice. :-)
9) Last night, a practice siren alarm thingy went off that scared the jeebus out of us. It kept going for what seemed like hours, and then finally stopped. I called the city hall number (it was about seven at night or so) and got auto-forwarded to the city police where a dispatcher told me that it was just a practice drill. The phone number to call if this happens to you is on the large sign with all of the rules on it; I have no idea how often they run these drills.
10) It is at the beginning of November as I write this, so the weather is amazeballs – not too hot during the day, not too cold at night.
11) My only real complaint (? if it can be called that) is that there isn't a bathroom for this RV park. I prefer to use the facilities provided at places like this instead of my own bathroom to keep from filling my tanks, but they just don't have them here, so... *shrug* Also, the road noise is constant, although there is no train or planes that like to fly over, so that's a plus.
All in all, I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a no-frills stop to get some work done and recharge your batteries. :-) Enjoy!

We were headed to Arizona and were meaning to find free boondocking campsites along the way. Littlefied, Texas was a good 4-5 hour marked stop that listed Waylon Jennings RV Park as a free stop. Not only was a free site, but a free site with the works. This RV Park came with free water, electric, and a dump station located in the back next to the chain link fence.
There are 2 pull through sites and 6 back in sites.
We were the only ones the first night and third night. On the second night there was one motorhome. It was hard to believe since it was free FHU with a 4-day stay limit. Although, during our stay it was quite chilly.
There are donatiom boxes throughout park but this is a totally free RV Park with a 4-day stay limit. It is $20 a night after that paid to the city.
Right next door there is an Ace hardware which is very convenient as you can walk there in a couple of minutes. There is also a sonic on the other side of the road a block or so away that you could walk to as well. McDonald’s is also down the road along with gas stations.
The reason for 4 stars on noise is just because it is right off and next to the road but it was an annoyance or very loud at all.
We had all 4 bars with cricket wireless service.
These places are hard to find and we give 5 thumbs up and are thankful for cities like Littlefied, Texas for providing this to travelers like us.

Wide, roomy campsites with shade trees and picnic tables. There was some traffic noise, but after dark it almost disappeared. The Ace Hardware next door was handy. If there were restrooms, I couldn't find any. There was a building with two doors that might have been restrooms, but the doors were padlocked. Otherwise, a nice, quiet place to spend the night.

Massive thunderstorms in Lubbock, my destination south of here. Diverted out of the warning box to Littlefield and pulled right in. The spots in the Waylon Jennings campground are free for 4 days. But a more roomy set of sites next door at the city community park. FHU. Overnight free, weekly rate $120, monthly $400 incl electric. A few weeds but otherwise pretty clean. Dumpsters onsite.
