“Feels like the Old West!”
The historic Wortley Hotel, formerly owned by Sheriff Pat Garrett, is located in scenic Lincoln, New Mexico, the former stomping grounds of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Billy the Kid broke out of jail for the last time in Lincoln, killing Deputy J. W. Bell and U. S. Marshall Bob Ollinger, in the process. Bob was eating at the Wortley, along with several prisoners from the jail, when the breakout occurred. It was his last meal. Billy the Kid was considered too damned dangerous to be taken across the street and fed at the Wortley. He took his meals in the courthouse. He talked J. W. Bell into allowing him to go to the outhouse while everyone else was gone to lunch. On his way back from the outhouse, Billy overpowered and shot Bell. All rooms at the Wortley have been recently remodeled. We have newfangled indoor plumbing in each room, new custom made beds imported from Roswell and a nice fresh paint job on everything. Rooms are appointed with antique furniture to keep the 1800s feel. Breakfast is included when you stay with us (and a fine breakfast it is). Mountain air is thrown in for free, a medically proven slightly addictive aid to sleep. We serve meals made from the freshest of ingredients Wednesday through Sunday of each week. Our regular hours are 11:00am to 3:00pm Wednesday-Friday and 8:00am to 3:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Our irregular hours are whenever else the chef feels like cooking (and he really likes to cook). You can get breakfast almost any day when we have overnight guests. We are a bed and breakfast and we have to heat up the grill anyway. If you are a guest, we can feed you at night, so no need to worry, you won't go to bed hungry. We reserve the right to fish in the morning on days when we have no guests. All hours are subject to change at the chef's whim.
