“A functioning Rescue Farm that produces home grown, hand spun products to pay the feed and vet bills.”
The Straw Family Farm in northeastern Oklahoma is a fully functional farm caring for a wide variety of livestock including sheep, cows, goats, horses, chickens and more. They specialize in bottle feeding babies and nursing them to adulthood as well as rescue work. Visitors are welcome five days a week, including weekends, to experience what the farm does on a daily basis and to interact with the animals. Kids can also ride B'Day the cow and snap a picture or two. There are plenty of activities to take part in on the farm. Lessons in crocheting, spinning and fiber prep are all available as well as classes in shepherding, which detail the process of taking a sheep's wool from sheering to a wearable textile. During regular business hours everyone is welcome to help out around the farm. Goat milking and roping demos are also available as well as catch and release fishing at the pond. Each visit can be customized to fit a group or individual's needs.
Christy is super friendly. Lots of goats, sheep, chickens to pet. Do not use the address on road tripper on GPS. Get directions from website.
Went today we had a blast! My kids milked a goat, road a horse, fed goats and sheep, collected eggs and fished along with making paper rockets, scavenger hunt and seeing all of the animals, including a 2 day old calf. We will definitely be back soon.
