My wife and I stayed at KOA-Leavenworth in early September 2017, so unfortunately, the wildfires in MT, OR, and CA had caused a smoky haze to obscure most of the surrounding mountains . Even so, the views from this campground were gorgeous. This campground is clean and well maintained, and it was a great place for peace and quiet. There is a trail that cuts across a grassy field to the Safeway about a quarter mile away, so walking to get supplies is easy. The downtown is very close and accessible with the shuttles and walking, and there is a fairly flat and maintained path directly to the river's edge. I would love to come back and stay at this campground.

We stayed here in the off season (November 2018) and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality and beauty of this campground. We were in a brand new (renovated) site with a Weber grill, bench, and fire ring. There weren't many campers there, so we had a lot of space. The campground was undergoing construction renovations all around, but this didn't bother us at all. We walked the grounds many times, looking at the mountains and nearby stream. The decorative lights on the cabins were all lit up each night, which made it feel even more cozy and quaint. We didn't get to use the amenities, such as pool, hot tub, and coffee shop due to the winter season, but I can just imagine how great this place would be in the summer! There's a playground, dog play area, gift shop and even a shuttle to downtown. The Wifi was great as well. I would love to visit this campground again.

We stayed here to be close to downtown Leavenworth and we were not able to book 2 weeks at another close by RV Park, so opted to stay one of the weeks here. As with any KOA it is pricey. We stayed in the back section. We were here 06-12-2019 to 06-18-2019. It was very busy with the start of the Summer season. In the back section it was very crowded and the sites are on the small side. We had to park the truck parallel to the road behind the Airstream. With everyone else doing that the roads were a little tight to get through. The weekend was crazy busy. It quieted down a little bit during the week.

Pros:
-Close to downtown Leavenworth
-Safeway close-by for grocery shopping
-Laundry (however, pricey and the one near the office was not very clean. Did not try the
others within the park.)
-Trail within the park to the beautiful Wenatchee River

Cons:
-Price
-Crowded
-Tight
-Site not level
-Close to neighbors

We were placed comically close to our neighbors. Thank goodness they were friendly but if we got trashier neighbors it would have been hell.

This place is making money. Very crowded, which is fine, but crowded capacity plus sites cheesily placed on top of each other is way annoying.

Wifi didn’t work for us. Could hardly squeeze my truck in. Many other trucks were oozing out into the road due to the tiny spaces.

Dogs everywhere. One dog got loose and all hell broke loose for a moment. Another German Shepard was going ape **** for 10 mins at 3am.

The facility was robust and newer though so that was good. And the ladies at the counter were friendly.

The Good:

Staff was super friendly, and they ran the campsite very well
The sites were clean and well-maintained
Really nice walking path down to the river
Location to downtown was very good
This is the first campground where they come by and pick up garbage each day - nice!

The Not-so-good:

Sites are a bit tightly packed
A bit overpriced for the time of year
Fellow campers with unruly children running in front of moving vehicles
WiFi was not very good, but cell data coverage was excellent
Train across the river in the middle night was a bit loud

Overall the campground was very nice, and we’d stay there again. The staff did a wonderful job making guests feel welcome, and provided guides to the sites.
The only feedback I’d offer is that it would be nice if they encouraged guest to rein in the unruly kids.

Will definitely return for another visit.

We've stayed at other KOAs before, and honestly not been super impressed. Previous, other locations, were fine stays, but nothing exceptional or exciting. Our first time at this location was super nice. These franchisees are really trying to live up to the higher standard that a KOA Holiday designation is supposed to stand for.

First, this location seems to have had a lot of changes in terms of traffic flow and entry from public streets as the typical KOA A-frame office building is way at the back of the campground, not at the entry. The entry, which is now off from Zelt Strasse, not River Bend Dr., has you entering the park at the newly expanded portion of the park. As you enter the park there is a "guard house" which is a new building that is an information desk with a small "comfort station" (restrooms with no showers), and small laundry facility. The info desk/check-in desk was not staffed during our stay. This entry to the park also houses all the new pull-thru KOA patio sites, and there are a lot of patio sties, not just 4 or 5. You have to drive through this section and veer left and drive further to the back of the park to find the office, original "comfort station" (which was being remodeled during our stay), pool, hot tub, playground, coffee cabin, and most of the other amenities of the park.

Access to WiFi towers in the park is good, however it is unsecured (which I really dislike), and it gets very bogged down at night, with lots of buffering and jittery downloads. I have no clue how much bandwidth they are purchasing for their WiFi offering, but it isn't enough. And not securing it means that everybody that lives in or goes by this location can piggy back on the signal. There are apartments nearby the KOA, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were people living there that are using the KOAs service because it isn't secured. This should be addressed by the owners immediately. If you don't like the idea of using unsecured public WiFi, there is good cell service. I had 3 bars with AT&T, however speeds were good, even better than the KOA's WiFi.

Check-in was fast and easy. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The entire office building has been remodeled and improved. The check-in desk was modern, and the camp store was nicely stocked with lots of different camping and gifting products. Prices were acceptable. The laundry room at the main office was small but had very modern laundry equipment. The "comfort station" at the main office was being remodeled while we were there.

You are escorted to your campsite. I wasn't waiting forever for an escort and once I gave them the thumbs up when I got to the campsite, they didn't insist on hanging around and "helping out". I've had that experience at way too many other campgrounds that do site escorts.

The KOA patio is pretty impressive. A bean shaped concrete pad with a nice quality Webber gas grill, built-in wood fire ring and substantial patio furniture; a set of 4 chairs and a table plus a glider rocker love seat. Utilities at the site were also very good. The power pedestal was 50/30/20, and all the breakers were tight and not worn out, and the outlets were reasonably tight. The campground had one 20 amp outlet in use for electric heat tape that lead to the water valve. The water valve was a twist valve (I prefer the lift style valve handles), but was tight and not drippy or leaky. There were two sewer connections on the site, one closer to the entry side of the pad and one closer to the front of the pad. The sewer ports were capped with screw tops, not flip caps (I prefer the flip caps), but had not been ridiculously tightened down by a previous occupant or the staff. The location of the sewer ports were such that I didn't have to break out my super long sewer hose to reach. Utility design and services on site were really well thought out. Power quality is good. I was getting a shade over 120 volts through my entire stay, and while power draw was probably not high because none of use were using air conditioners (it was pretty cool when we were there) I suspect that even with high use in the park you will get good voltage most of the time.

Park employees pick up garbage from your campsite throughout the day. Just put a bag of garbage out on the edge of your site and one of the employees that is running around on a Gator will grab it as part of their normal duties. No need to make the "trash walk" to a dumpster on the far corner of the park.

The park offers more amenities through the summer camping season, basically Memorial Day to Labor Day. This includes pool and adults only hot tub, shuttle service into Leavenworth, and on-site food from the coffee cabin. Looks like they also do movies at night and a few more guided activities during the high season. Most of the additional amenities were shut down as we were there during the early spring. The playground is open all year, and like other parts of the park, is a modern playground with equipment you'd find in a municipal park.

There are a lot of cabins at this KOA. While they had the typical limited service cabins, there were many cabins that had lofts, and were fully self contained, including bathrooms and kitchens. All the cabins were occupied when we were there.

The older section of the campground has plenty of tree cover and even though your are parked pretty close to your neighbors, it feels very woodsy. The new section with the KOA patios and pull-thru sites has limited vegetation and virtually no tree cover. I hope in time they will foster some vegetation to provide shade or privacy between these sites.

This was the most expensive campsite we have ever paid for, however the accessibility to Leavenworth, along with the on-site amenities, quality of the camp site, quality of the utility hookups, make it worth it.

Rating downgrade only for the issue later in the review, otherwise this is a 5 star park all day long.

The KOA Leavenworth is a great park for most. It's KOA, so high density (small sites) and a lot of families and daytime noise but shockingly quiet after about 9pm.

Our site, 145, was in the newer section of the park. Full hookups and nice patio furniture and BBQ at the site. The landscaping was suffering from the late summer "burnt" effect, but that's hardly the parks fault in late summer.

Our only issue, and it's a big one (pun intended). Our rig is a 42' Super C that has the same wheel base of most 45' RVs. Whomever designed the expansion to the park felt it would be wise to make all the roads single lane (8' wide) and line all the corners with very very large granite boulders. Additionally, the new entrance driveway requires a hard right turn and is no more than the width of two vehicle lanes with boulders on either side and large curbs. This is okay for big rigs if you use both lanes to turn in, but the then they put a guard shack in the middle of the road not 50' in the park requiring a turn in that is greater than 90 degrees to turn in. The park probably doesn't have issues for 98% of guests, but it gives us great pause if we will return since multiple points in the park require backing up and pivoting to navigate the park.

I've stayed at several KOA's over the years and this KOA is very nice. It has a great playground for the kids, a pool, shower stations, a coffee and ice cream bar, and a great general store. The safe was super friendly and helpful. The reason we stayed here specifically was its close proximity to downtown Leavenworth. When booking my stay, it was an additional $30 dollars to select my site and for a two-night stay, I felt that was too much. I quickly found out why they can charge $30 dollars. The first site we were placed in, site 20, could not even fit my 20-foot trailer. The second site, site 22, was a little longer and I could fit my trailer and truck into the site. The sites were so tight that we could barely fit the provided picnic table next to our trailer. As our neighbors arrived, they made a joke that their site was barely a driveway. That said, there were numerous spacious sites available if you were willing to spend the extra money.
