This is your classic high desert stream dry camping location. I've been coming here for 40+ years and I still love it. However it is worth noting that it has changed a fair amount since there was a major flood through the campground is April 2018.
The campground hugs Birch Creek and is over 5 miles long. Many of the twists and bends along the creek have some sort of campsite. I note that some of them, in particular my favorite one, are now inaccessible because the creek cut them off from the road. Water will go where water wants! There are still plenty of sites available big enough to accommodate any size rig! I have a 40' Class A and park it with no problem! There are 4 group sites that you can reserve.
The camps nearer the entrance have pit toilets, picnic tables and fire rings. The farther south you go there are rock fire rings usually but that is it. I prefer the south end myself.
The fishing is really good here too. Idaho Fish and Game stock the creek with lots of catchable trout. They feed aggressively and you can catch them on any gear, fly's, worms, other bait, spinner's, etc. Bring the kids, it's easy fishing!
There is potable water at the main entrance (north end of the campground), but no dump station nor trash service. It is pack it in pack it out. Also beware of mice, there seems to be a healthy population so do what I do and trap them outside.
Also there is NO CELL Service without some sort of cellular booster. With mine I was able to pull in 17 megs down from Verizon, and when I switched to my directional so I could upload a YouTube video it jumped to 68 megs down. NO BOOSTER NO CELL SERVICE!

Can't imagine camping here with the cattle & barren landscape. Barely okay for 1-2 nights. I was surprised how clean it was of garbage. Fire rings everywhere so it must get busy at times.

This was my fourth time visiting Birch Creek BLM. The views are spectacular and the sites are all mostly creekside. The fishing is on and off but still fun. This campground covers about fie miles along highway 28 and Birch Creek. There are four entrances with the Lower and Middle tending to get less action. The northern portion has pit toilets. This area is dry camping. Fuel up before going here. No services nearby. Since last visiting here they have added more pit toilets (northern section), picnic tables, and group sites. The area is also used by OHVs.
AT&T cell service is a sketchy 1 bar and I had to move around a bit to get it. When you leave the highway it is all dirt road. This is dispersed camping and sites are not necessarily level. Plenty of sites have fire rings.
