Each site was spaced well apart from the next with either shade or sun - your choice. My site was in the shade and had a small fast running stream along side with a nice level gravel parking area for my 18 foot van.

It’s a very pretty area with a beautiful stream through the campground and a 1 mile hiking trail. My Verizon service was very poor - 1 bar to no service. I could get a text and possibly a call that would drop. There is no privacy between campsites and most sites are right off the dirt road which has a lot of ATV/side by side traffic with dust and noise. Both of these factors caused the fishbowl effect. I had high hopes that breakfast at the cafe at Cheyenne Crossing (the one with the cool rock shop) would be great but sadly it was the worst I’ve had in over 12,000 miles. But, the little shops were fun. I didn’t try the restaurant next door. Spearfish is a quick trip which really helps. The grocer in Lead is pretty well stocked but expensive.

You can’t beat the backdrop to the forestry service campground. No hookups, pit toilets, water pump, trash and camp host. It is a beautiful place.

Was a beautiful campsite- creek running through the property. Thinking that ran through site 1-6. We have a 25 ft RV- that maxed out the space- smaller units recommended. Fire pit with grill top and quiet.

Main camp is closed but the walk in sites are open all year. Musical creek running through. Sunny and warm during the day and very peaceful here. Btw it’s free to stay now. Don’t want to ever leave!

This is a nice small campground on the creek. I walked a 2 mile nature trail that starts right from the campground. Put toilet was clean.
Half price with America the Beautiful pass so only paid $10.75.
Verizon showed 1-2 bars but was very irregular and didn’t worked more than it did.
