I checked out all three Walmarts in Las Cruces, and this one is my preference.
Rigs camp in a small parking lot separated by a median of landscaping. Because it doesn't get thru traffic it's mostly quiet (there is some highway noise), mostly dark, and has room for a couple big rigs. Parking is relatively level. Walmart is close to the New Mexico State campus.
There is a constant security presence in this lot, and they are very friendly to RVers. I felt comfortable leaving the mountain bikes on my hitch rack (locked up, of course). Security gives a wave and a smile as they drive by, and they are patrolling non-stop.
Only one downside to this free lot - and it's a humorous one. There is a mockingbird that roosts near the RV lot, and it's learned to sing the "songs" of car alarms and police sirens.
We were going to stop here for the night, decided to move on. Lots of homeless and shady looking people walking around
Van, West side parking, level (maybe a half bubble off), some trees for, late afternoon shade, lots of truck traffic, next to train tracks and I-25, camera security, nice store, we'll stocked, reprovisuines here.
One of the nicest Walmart experiences we’ve had! Well lit parking lot with security present. There were several other RVs and trailers parked here as well. Quiet and safe.
Highly recommend grabbing a coffee from Picacho Coffee Roasters on West Conway Ave about 1 mile away in the morning!
Flat well lit parking at Walmart. Pulled in after dark and had no problem parking. Some road noise but no other issues. This was our first Walmart overnight so it was nice to have a good experience.
