We stopped here for an overnight between Tucson, AZ and Carlsbad, NM. The overnight noise was surprisingly tolerable. The nearby truck engines provided a constant white noise that didn't disrupt our sleep at all.
There are picnic shelters and a view of Las Cruces, but once we parked, we just holed up inside and took advantage of the fast Verizon speeds.
BTW - the max stay here is 24 hours.

Stopped here while traveling to Texas, great view of Las Cruces and love giant statue of the road runner. It's made out of recycled items like tires, shoes, and electronic items! Restrooms are clean as well as the picnic areas, not noisy being right next to the highway.
We pulled in after dark but were able to find plenty of space. The overlook itself was pretty at night and in the morning. They offer shelters with a decent grill setup for those interested. The bathrooms are ok.
There are even a few things to do including the roadrunner sculpture, a geocache, and Pokémon Go!
My first rest stop overnight and I'm sold on free! Lots of trucks coming through during the night but I slept okay regardless. Quite a few others stayed the night making it feel safe in numbers. We made the mistake of parking too close to the restrooms. Don't be like us.
We stayed the night here inroute to Arizona and were surprised at how quiet and clean it was. And the views, wow, scenic is correct! You drive up a hill to get to this rest area so it blocks out all the highway noise. There were a few other RVers and Truckers that stayed the night so we felt safe. It is an eastbound rest area so if your headed west, you will need to turn around to get to it.
Spectacular views and peaceful sleep. Yes, trucks roll thru and sometimes park in RV spots but most don’t. Surprisingly quiet due to end-to-end parking rather than side by side. Shaded picnic shelters and Mountain View’s we would have paid for. Any size rig ok. Set your alarm for sunrise and walk your coffee to the bluffs edge- you won’t want to miss it. Sunsets are wonderfull too with the giant found object roadrunner sculpture...be sure and look close!
What a great find, thank you Campendium folks! This was plan B for Christmas Eve, but I'm glad i did. The view over Las Cruces was amazing! Bathrooms... good. Dog walk... meh, I ended up picking a dozen thorns out of his paws & my tennis shoes. All in all, good place for a night.
Nice over night stop not many spots get there early
Nice view of Las Cruces with picnic shelters. There are somewhat limited spots for trucks and larger RVs, we parked our 23 ft Sprinter van (170 wb) in one of the many car spaces with no issues though.
Surprisingly quiet. Vans and RVs of all sizes. Easily found a space rolling in at 9:30p. Appears to be a lot of recent maintenance and landscaping.
