We only stayed for a single night in Las Cruces, though it came highly recommended by both the Internet and various West Texans. We were simply passing through on our way to another land, but I do feel the layover was a fortunate one. Las Cruces is a big town, or some might say a very small city, and we only experienced the small area known as Mesilla. To keep this review in line with our stay, I’ll make things brief (edit: turns out I was lying):

The Mesilla neighborhood of Las Cruces, NM is a splendid place to stay for a day, and one might even easily be able to extend the experience for as long as a week, depending on your ability to shop-til-you-drop or how much you associate the motorcycle with a good time.

All in all, the neighborhood offers a smorgasbord of good restaurants, though heavily leaning towards the Mexican aspect of foodstuffs, but such is to be expected from a state with the word Mexico right there at the end of it. The Mexican restaurants focus heavily on the extremely spicy side of that type of cuisine, which is not to be mistaken for authentic mind you, but nonetheless I suspect any foodie with a flair for snooping around would be hard pressed to require more than a meal or two without finding something they could truly sink their chompers into.

The surrounding neighborhood, aside from eateries galore and even a seemingly quaint coffee shop close by to a fantastic winery serving up magnificent French delectables, makes for a grand enough experience. Easily walkable streets, bike lanes galore, and a small-but-packed-with-local-boutiques plaza were reason enough for us to spend an entire day here, even though we had places to be and only traveled for an hour earlier in the morning. A book store with classics new and old, all of the handcrafts and jewelry shoppes a lady might blow her savings within, and more than one storefront touting hand dipped chocolates and homemade fudges surround a plaza which promises to hold live music and playing children on warmer days. For the non-smoking traveler, rest pink lung-ed in the fact that smoking is permitted neither in the restaurants and bars dotting the area nor the plaza itself.

Of course, this is not a review of Las Cruces, or even Mesilla, and therefore I’ll get directly to the park itself. It is okay, and on the better side of okay, indeed. I dwelled on the neighborhood surrounding Siesta RV Park simply for the fact that nearly all of it’s charm comes from that neighborhood. The park itself is simple, a few small trees, at least one per site as I recall. The folks running the place are extremely pleasant. They’ll let you know what’s what in town and won’t haggle over a discount here or a parking spot there. There are few extra amenities, expect to be able to wash your clothes but don’t count on a dip in any pools or a swingset for the kids. Mountains tower on nearly every horizon and the highway is far enough away to allow the noise of America’s trucking industry to fade to nothing before it reaches your own rig’s walls.

All in all, I think the experience of Mesilla is worth a night or two in the area, though I don’t expect we’ll personally be taking them up on their monthly rate.

We really liked this little park, from its personable staff to its awesome location. Within walking distance of the park is a delicious pizza/wine restaurant and all that the Historic Mesilla neighborhood has to offer. You can see the Organ Mountains from the park, and Las Cruces' amenities (Target, hardware stores, etc.) are just a 15 minute drive away.

The laundry room is nice, and the park's store is one of the largest we've ever seen. It's nothing fancy, but it's a good little park for visiting Las Cruces.

Note: we initially had reservations at Coachlight Inn's RV park, but it fell through massively, so we tried this place, and never looked back.

October 2016. We swung in, set up the bus, and headed up to White Sands which is an easy hour drive from Las Cruces. Siesta RV Park is nicely kept, with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. We took advantage of their laundry facilities which were in great shape. Upon checking out we were encouraged to check out City of Rock State Park on our way to Silver City, which we may have missed and I am thankful we didn't!

After a week+ of dry camping in state and national parks, we were ready to run errands in town, plug back into the grid, and do some laundry. Siesta RV was an okay fit.

The RV park is clean and fairly quiet at night with a mix of longer-term residents and folks just passing through. We only spent one night here and pretty much just hunkered down to cross some chores off the to-do list. Onsite laundry seemed like it would be convenient, but it ended up taking 4 hours & $10 to run 2 loads of laundry, after which we just gave up and hung a good chunk of it up to dry inside our bus. (Next time we'll just go to a laundromat.) The park's close proximity to downtown Old Mesilla is the reason to stay here.

Old Mesilla itself is neat - we went out for coffee & breakfast at The Bean and walked around a bit afterwards. You'll see well-preserved 19th century buildings and a range of shops & art galleries. Since we're not really the shop-til-you-drop types, we mostly just enjoyed the scenery and spent some time in the bookstore on the main plaza (they have a great selection).

Nice little traditional side by side RV park, very friendly helpful staff, clean free showers & good laundry facility. The attraction here is its proximity to historic Mesilla with is charming tidy town. A leisurely stroll thru town and a bite at La Posta are a must, definitely walk from the RV park it's not that far. If you are looking for your next stop check out Aguirre Springs BLM ($7.00) the other side of Las Cruces and the mountains.

Lovely spot with friendly staff. Facilities where fine. Quiet spot and on the last row you get a great view of the Organ Mtns. We don't do many RV parks, but this placed us for a day trip to White Sands. I can see why some folks say it is traditional vs the mega plex parks. Did not have great food at Ándeles, just down the road. Great service however. Tons of rig across I 10 at the WalMart, of you just need to sleep.

This park is right off the interstate and far enough to not hear the traffic. It is very close to the old town of Mesilla. The town is a must visit. La Posta is a great place to eat. The park sites are small, level and lots of sticker plants. The restrooms and showers are dated but clean. There are a lot of long term guests with trashy RVs.

Super friendly host and a good location. Easy to get to but far enough away from the roads for a quiet night. Facilities are older and not fancy but everything was clean and the showers felt great

This is an older, dusty, loved park. The management/staff is friendly and helpful.

$228/week for a laid back, quiet park very near to old Mesilla with full-hook-ups - including cable.

Sites are pull-through dirt/gravel and close, but each site gets their own tree - which may be more of a nuisance than a luxury if you've got a large rig and slide outs. I personally wouldn't recommend this park for rigs larger than 40/42 feet, but it's probably possible.

There are older/permanent rigs in the first row nearest to the bathrooms/laundry/road, but it's cool. Didn't use laundry, but showers were clean, good pressure and hot. The kind I ditch our own rig's kinda weak-pressure shower for (Yes!)

You'll need a water pressure regulator here (maybe that's why my rig's water pressure sucks?)

Park has a dog walk - and a dog groomer on site.

Stayed one night on a road trip and it worked well for that. Park manager waited for us as we arrived a little after he would normally close. Had everything we needed with great WiFi and a level site. We did not use the showers or other facilities. Park looks to have full timers. Could have been very dusty had the wind been blowing but it had just rained to it was a little muddy.
