This is a busy place because it is so nice and so near major population centers. Best to check for availability first.
City of La Grange is very nice, good shopping and eating and most services for trailer/MH or TOW. An easy drive to Columbus and Ft. Benning.

This was our first time visiting Whitetail Ridge. It was a last minute trip so a lot of the better sites were booked. Site 23 was on a hill top over looking the lake. Pretty site but a little far away from the water for us. The campground itself is well maintained and laid out well. Very quiet and the attendant passed by several times a day keeping an eye on things. We booked our next stay while sitting at our site.

This is our third stay at Whitetail Ridge COE and it never disappoints! This time we were able to book one of the 50 amp sites but had issues with the 50 amp hookup and settled for the 30 amp connection without issues. This particular site backs out onto a peninsula and gives an even greater feeling of isolation in this campground with great spacing between sites.
The campground roads are wide and in very good shape. The campground host that checked us in was very friendly. The campground has bathrooms, bathhouses with showers and some laundry facilities. We did not use any of these facilities.
The site has a picnic table, fire ring and a light pole. The pad was concrete and the front yard is gravel. Most sites are level, but a few sites have a sloped driveway down to the pad. This can cause issues with long trailers or 5th wheels.

As a veteran of numerous COE campgrounds and their great huge, level and picturesque sites, Whitetail Ridge has the best camp sites I have ever seen. The sites here are huge with plenty of room for any size RV combo (with an extra vehicle even) at each site. Those which are right on the waterfront are positively spectacular. Even the interior sites are great. It would be nearly impossible to be disappointed with any site at this park. The only ding I could see is that some sights have a somewhat steep drive down to the parking pad. This could be a concern if bottoming-out is an issue for your rig. While there are several sites sloped downward, only a small handful would present this problem. Study photos and choose carefully.
Our site was a pull through, which are semi-circle drives off the main road in the loop. Plenty of room for the rig, our truck and the wife's SUV. Huge sitting area with large picnic table and fire ring. There is also a lantern pole at every site, but we don't see too many folks utilize these anymore. The nearby bath house was clean and had a washer and dryer which was fabulous -- no in-town laundromat!
Our only problem were the ants. There are lots of small brown ants that will sting if they get annoyed and the will invade the innards of you rig. We believe many of these critters fall out of the many trees (which provide great shade) and onto rig roofs to find their way in. Be aware and take care of your roof as well as other possible entry points when setting up a line of defense. We spread Ajax around our tires, stabilizers and landing gear, which seemed to do the trick. We also made sure our electric cord and water hose were not in contact with the ground.
Some great day hikes about 45 minutes away at FDR State Park along the Pine Mountain Trail. Lagrange has all anyone would need for shopping and restaurants.
So much to like about this place -- at 15 bucks a night, it simply can't be beat.

This COE campground is one of the nicest facilities I’ve stayed at. Lots of shade trees and plenty of lake view sites with spectacular views. We had site 19 and would reserve that one again in a heart beat. Sites have electric and water and a septic dump is located just inside the gate. There’s also a boat ramp and small dock for loading and unloading. AT&T cell phone had full service. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. They recommended we ride our bikes about a mile down the road to get farm fresh strawberries… That was great advice! This is a fantastic campground that’s quiet and relaxing. I would drive out of my way to stay here again next time we’re out this way.
