A very popular beach for swimming, scuba diving and snorkeling, set against beautiful sea cliffs. The bluffs above the beach are grassy, making a great spot for picnics. Keep in mind that La Jolla Cove is part of the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve, so fishing, scavenging, or "swimming devices" (surfboards, boogie boards, inflatable mattresses, etc.) are ''not'' allowed. You may also find a very large number of sea-birds and animals flying, walking and lazing around the area in the daytime.
Reviews
It is quite beautiful with the cliffs. There are nearby restaurants where one can dine and gaze out to the oceans. There is also a cave that can be explored but charges $5 per person in one of the gift shops near the cove.
You’ll need at least half a day to explore La Jolla Cove. The Cove is a tiny beach tucked between sandstone cliffs is one of La Jolla’s best-known spots for snorkeling and kayaking.
Follow the smell to reach the resident sea lions playing and sleeping on the rocks. There were plenty of pups around when we visited, and its one of the fun things to do in San Diego with kids.
