A reenactment of the [[American Civil War]] battle that occurred on October 21, 1861 in Laurel County. The battle was the first between regular troops of both sides in Kentucky. The reenactment is usually held on the weekend closest to October 21.
Civil War history. Long and winding road to the site, but worth it. Very peaceful and beautiful. Many walking/hiking trails. Some are steep (not for flip-flops!). Drive up to the turn around to hike to the natural spring.
NOTE: Drive is somewhat treacherous at points. One way bridges and gravel roads.
