Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on November 29, 2023This was a really interesting campsite. It seems so barren with nothing but scrub-brush and sage bushes, but it's nestled next to the Wolford mountains and reservoir, with a unique beauty of its own. Little prairie dogs race all over and there is a neat trail up the nearby "hill" to a gazebo on the top with a great view of the surrounding landscape. We were pleasantly surprised that we enjoyed our time here and if passing through this way, we would stop here again.

When we pulled in to dump after boondocking, a cheerful camp host rode out on a 4-wheeler to greet us. He confirmed that RVs could dump at the campground for a fee, but that rinse water was seasonal (and not working yet). He suggested Red Mountain RV Park--also on Campendium--which was in town a few minutes away. Easy pull-in and pull-out. We'll visit Wolford Campground again.
Great and inexpensive place to stop for a few days.
Nice constant breeze ups to 20 mph.
Huge campsites with covered table and grill.
ELECTRICITY ONLY!!!
No water except at entrance so fill your tank before parking.

Views all around! Stayed here for almost two weeks and loved it! Gets a bit windy at times but that’s to be expected for an open setting. Would definitely stay here again!

Nightly rate reflects weekly rates. Wolford Campground is a great place to visit. Camp hosts were very helpful with getting me set up (my husband was out of town on a business trip so I drove the rig in by myself). In fact, I did notice that once a rig left, the camp hosts came by and cleaned the space for the next camper. Almost all the sites are un-level, so plan on using blocks or having your wheels "in the air." A fair amount of rigs are there for all summer and folks come up on the weekend for fishing and boating activities on the lake. There is a marina there with boat rentals (rates are very reasonable). As mentioned by other campers, this area can lend itself to high winds.

Stayed two nights here in September. Pros: great location next to reservoir, 30 amp electricity, dump station on site, clean vault toilets, dog walking area, little to no road noise, average spacing between sites. Cons: hunters, fishermen, and ATVers getting up at 4am to start their day (little to no consideration for quiet hours), unlevel sites, electricity on wrong side of sites. The town of Kremmling is 7 miles away and has gas stations, a grocery store, and a few restaurants. On-site marina offers boat rentals. This campground can get VERY windy, especially in the afternoon and early evening hours. Each site had a nice picnic table, firepit with grill grate, and concrete pad.

Huge sites right next to the water. Very clean with electric, dump station and potable water. Dog walk trail I’m the campground.
We like to save money by Boondocking but this was a very good deal for $35 a night (June 2020). Great location between Steamboat and Dillion. Would stay here again.

We stopped here for a couple of nights in between Steamboat Springs & Rocky Mtn NP. This is where you go to play in the water w/ your boat. There is a hike if you look for it..., which is what we like to do. And great views that you don't have to look for. The campground itself has an odd layout, but it has the best & fastest cell signal we have ever come across! About 6 miles from the campground is the quaint town of Kremmling - worth a look.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay here. I was most concerned with at&t signal not working at all, but I was able to take work video calls here without issue. The signal can be spotty though, but with a decent external antenna you should be fine. Signal in back in town (10 min drive) is good too. Enjoyed using our kayak here and watching sunsets.

Wolford campground was a disappointment. The site I reserved #62 is not really setup for RV's. The Wolford map only shows three sites in loop D as being "tent" only and so the rest are supposedly accessible to RV's. But #62, which from Google satellite appears to be a great back in site, has a large block of stone blocking entry and an RV can only be parked near the entrance to the site. What's more it isn't clear just where that would be. The result was that the picnic table and fire ring were about 100' away and inaccessible to my disabled wife. This non-electric basic site is the same price as a sheltered electric site! Also, when I went to get water, available only at the dump station, it was padlocked. I had to go to the front gate to ask for it to be unlocked. I was told one of the campground hosts was supposed to have done that. The price I paid was not a nightly price but the minimum stay price "1 Two Night Stay." So, $74.20 (after taxes, etc.)
