Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on April 16, 2024Park at Koosharem recreational area, about a quarter mile north on the 24 from where the coordinates are. It is a gravel parking lot along reservoir. There are bathrooms that were open in October (fairly clean). Site suitable for sleeping in car or dry camping in RV. Much colder in mountains than the rest of Utah. The parking lot is close to highway so you can hear traffic. No service. No fire places but there were picnic tables

We stayed here in early May 2018 with our 21 foot toy hauler for one night and left or trailer while we went to Capitol Reef. Easy access in and out, two entrances to the main road. There are two pit toilets at the main entrance, but we camped too far away to use them. We saw two other trailers camping, but had a large area to ourselves. Very nice view to wake up to and the dogs were able to play/swim in the water. Mild amount of road noise. Heads up though... There were an unbelievable amount of large biting insects. You could hear the quiet hum whenever you stepped outside. They were only a problem when there wasn't a slight wind... Really didn't affect us too much, but it was consistently breezy.

I’m currently doing a cross country road trip from California to North Carolina and saw the great reviews for this reservoir and decided to check it out. Super clean place with bathrooms that are pretty clean and maintained. Super easy to find, only downfall was it was a bit noisy from the traffic going down the freeway.

Koosharem Reservoir all the water is drained and the road where you could camp is closed. We stayed at the bathrooms parking area only because we have been completely exhausted (day area).

The park is undergoing some upgrades including the damn and sites. The sites along the road are currently bulldozed and an area of land has been cleared (3/25/22). A long time local told me they are renovating sites.
We stayed at the parking area. There are two concrete picnic tables, the mens and women dump toilets are clean. There is also another small circle a half mile north, also on the east side of the road with about two sites. This area is untouched from the construction.
Lots of little black spiders on the ground and some flies. I would guess we were seeing baby spiders. Highway noise was not bad. Several people drove in to use the toilets while we were there. But it was mostly quiet. Cell service (T-Mobile) was non-existent. Cell service started about mile 20. This site is at mile marker 30. 20 miles into Richfield, Utah.
Even though the temps were in the 60's in daylight, there was still some ice on the lake. It was fun to hear the geese in the distance.

Close to road as others have commented, but did not bother us.
Great Verizon service (really fast ding external antenna), no ATT at all.
We stayed in a 40’ class A and tow. Spots were level. Reservoir great for fishing or cooling off.

This is a great spot with a pretty view. It’s right off the main road, but we didn’t mind since our camper van doesn’t do the back roads so well. There’s toilets and picnic tables on site but no water. Cell phone service for Verizon was fine. Like the previous person said, keep driving half a mile north after where the pin takes you & you’ll see the sign for the reservoir leading into the gravel parking lot.

Used this as an overnight spot on our drive down to St George. Awesome spot, our sprinter cleared the road pretty easily. Interesting terrain- We saw some dead fish and some other dead animals around where we were which was a little odd. Pretty windy first day which was great! We thought about staying but the lack of wind day 2 brought all the bugs that you could imagine. All bars with Verizon cell service, not much noise from the road nearby, and vault toilets! Didn’t use or check condition of them but they are there.

Stayed here for a few days, admittedly in the newer area that had just been made into open parking. Within 2 days had mice in the camper. We have killed 3 mice so far and are leaving tomorrow. The spots farther down the road that are the more established "camping spots" were taken when we arrived, perhaps they don't have mice issues down there? The pit toilets were open and in good condition for what they are and the area is relatively quiet for how close to the road it is. Thankfully of the three vehicles we have in our group, the camper is the only one to seem to have mice issues. The area may not be the best after rain/snow and it could turn into a bit of a mud hole, but if it has been dry for a while it's a neat little spot.
