This campground sits in the forest by a beautiful lake. Sunset Campground is nearby and also near the "Lake of the Woods". Spacious campsites, dirt and gravel with lots of shade, which is not so good for solar, but the heat is reduced by the shade. It was only about 80 degrees in mid July.
The lake allows boating swimming fishing etc. We tried out our new inflatable stand up paddle boards here. A great bike trail, hard packed and smooth runs for miles and partway around the lake.
There is a resort (operated by special permit with the USFS) right next door. It has a nice bar and restaurant and a marina and a separate RV park with full hookups.
This place is understandably busy and on short notice we could only get three days here mid week in the summer. We wish we could stay longer. Oh yes there is a dump and we were pleasantly surprised with the great cell service.
Update: Upon leaving we found the dump station came with $10 dollar fee, for one of those timed automated dumps....we passed.

Reliving childhood memories, we pulled into Aspen Point campground where my husband camped as a child. With a vintage lodge, bar and entertainment within walking distance and spacious campsites complete with plenty of shade, what more can you ask for? It almost felt like a summer camp for both children and adults.
Aspen Point is connected with Lake of the Woods Lodge/Cabins and Sunset campground which all hug the shoreline of the Lake and have several small beaches. In between the Lodge and Sunset campground there is a day use area which was heavily used on Sunday. This will not interrupt your quiet time in either Aspen Point or Sunset campgrounds.
The campground at the Lodge has both full hookup ($50/night) and partial hookups ($40) along with rental cabins. This area is very condensed, so be prepared to know your neighbors.
Our stay was in Site #14 at Aspen Point. Generously spaced, fire rings, no hookups. Flush toilets and fresh water nearby. $18/night or $9/night with senior pass. The Lodge had boat rentals and beaches.
We hiked a short trail through the woods and enjoyed lunch at the Lodge and also took in the Classic Rock/BBQ on Saturday evening (summer only).
Located midway between Klamath Falls and Ashland/Medford, Oregon this is a beautiful oasis that we'll definitely return to. If you enjoy dry camping, don't pass this one up! Cell service was good as was ability to FaceTime.
Can't get into Aspen Point (dry camp) campground? Try Lake of the Woods (full hookup) Resort or Sunset (dry camp) campground.

Loved this campground. We arrived on the afternoon of Memorial Day when everyone was else was packing up and heading home. It was perfect timing and we were easily able to snag site 8 which was one of the few with enough open space for our solar panels. While we were fine without a reservation, I looked at the reservations for later in the month and you couldn't find a site with more than one or two open days in a row. There are 3 FCFS sites, but we didn't take one because they were too shady.
No hook-ups here, but there were lots of water spigots, a few restrooms scattered around (no showers), dump station ($10 fee), and the best part...recycling!
The lake is pretty busy with power boats and jet skis but it's big enough that we were able to enjoy some evening kayaking without getting run down. Also, don't miss the bike trail to Fish Lake which travels through a cool area of lava.
The cell service here was great. No booster needed!

We LOVE this campground! The sites are some of the largest we've seen, with plenty of flat area for tents and trees for hammocks. The lake is great for swimming, boating and fishing -- not to mention it's a beautiful place to watch the sunset. The campground is well-kept and the camp hosts are super helpful. And if you want a break from "roughing it," there's a fully stocked camp store and restaurant a short walk away.
It is difficult to get a spot in the summer because it's so popular. Based on the reservation tags we saw, a lot of people stay for 1-2 weeks. But even when the campground was completely full, it was so quiet... not a lot of loud parties, barking dogs, or screaming kids (except mine).

Early May, Oregon weather at 5k elevation. Prices are $25/night, half that with America the Beautiful Pass (National Parks). No hookups, plenty of water, clean bathrooms, boat ramp, dump station $10 fee, biking/walking trails galore. 6 or 8 1st come 1st serve singles and a couple double spots, Restaurant, general store, Marina & pizzeria. Highly recommend.

The sites are large which is a plus. There are only around 6 first come, first serve spots on the outside loop away from the lake. All the rest were reserved for the weekend after Memorial Day. Friday night was acceptable but Saturday night was incredibly noisy with loud trucks, screaming children and whining dogs. Be warned. The dump was also closed. And, the mosquitos are fierce. There was a family, presumably staying in the campground, digging into the dumpsters. But, the internet was great for Verizon.
