However, we found the RV park options in Klamath to be disappointing. After difficulties with our reservation at Chinook RV Park next door, we temporarily moved over to Riverside. What we experienced there convinced us to leave without spending the night. The park was in the middle of total upheaval in management, with the managers having recently been fired and the temporary manager dealing with a sick family member and unavailable. The park is owned by the Yurok tribe, and seems to preference tribal members in some fashion (all other campers were members of the tribe). All other campers we saw were permanent residents -- no other transient travelers.
We found the sites to be laid out in a very confusing way, with some of them lacking utilities (e.g., no sewer at the first site we pulled into). The area closer to the river seems to be designed for transient travelers, but it was deserted and the utility boxes were filled with cobwebs. On the plus side, the RV park had functional wifi (which we used to look at other options) and the bathrooms were relatively modern and clean. The campground also offers free laundry, which is a nice perk! The sites are grass, lumpy, not particularly level, and in many cases placed far from the utility posts. The sites on the riverfront are back-ins that face away from the river, so it would be of no benefit for our rear panoramic windows. If the park management situation stabilizes, and they begin catering to travelers, it could be a decent option for the area.
