DW Ranch Road Dispersed Camping

Small spot off 40 if go slow rds passable

Convenient location right off the highway and across from a large Loves truck stop. Unfortunately there were ten or so vehicles that looked as if they had set up an encampment and had been there for a long time. We were not sure if there was an additional area further off the main road and did not want to chance driving in further not knowing if we would have a spot to turn around.

I noticed the few dozen old vans and trailers that obviously inhabit the area and immediately got that sketchy vibe. I was greeted by a mostly toothless older man who told me twice "you're better off up here by me than near the freeway by the crackheads". I was gone and driving 5hrs home before he could tell me a 3rd time. Immediate exit. Never again.

Mostly unregulated homeless people.
Small area.
Good cell
Good air t.v.
Very close quarters.
Right off the highway so is noisy.
Not many spots to camp near Kingman.
People were weird, felt out of place.

Stayed for 2 nights. Limited parking but had a good two nights sleep. Met the ranger and helped do a clean up.

Probably a bad time to pick this spot extremely high winds and rain all night, RTT flapped like a clipper sail. Slept maybe three hours. Trash everywhere. Maybe five of total (vehicles) with very good spacing. (1-200 yds) I was dry the entire time with our atrium attached and 5 bars of ATT kept me entertained while not sleeping.
