Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on September 12, 2023Once you pass through all the multi-million dollar houses the asphalt ends and the free camping begins. You can save yourself the extra driving around and pick that first spot n the left about a quarter mile down the road. It is the best and largest one. The others are OK, but are smaller (great for tents) and can be rough to get too.
1 bar of Verizon 3G. Maybe it can be boosted?

These locations are awesome!! The road is gravel and smooth for the most part. Once you turn onto Warm Springs Road, you’ll have some service for ~3 miles. After that, for the remaining 7 miles, there is NO Verizon or AT&T service. We were able to get 1 bar of AT&T with our cell booster for an additional mile down the road, then nothing. There are PLENTY of level spots — a few at the beginning will accommodate big rigs & the rest are small RV/van/tent size. 10
miles down the road, you'll find Frenchman’s Hot Springs (FREE!) with 3 different pools for soaking. We drove down to the hot springs to check out all available spots and then came back to our preferred location. It was relatively easy for us to turn around (class C, 23 ft) at the hot springs, but not sure how realistic it would be for a travel trailer or 5th wheel to turn around at that point.

Just a bit outside of Ketchum, we were able to drive our 24 foot motor home in on a well maintained gravel road. We went in about 3 miles to site 11. Beautiful wildflowers, quiet, lovely. We were under 3 miles to the Hot Springs which we checked out in the morning.

We stayed here two nights. It was easy access off a paved and compressed gravel road. Found site 7 which was huge and tucked into an awesome creek bend (brimming of trout). Would camp here again in a heartbeat. Cell service was in and out at this site, but who needs a phone when you've got everything else!

This is close to Ketchum and has many options depending on the size of your rig and how far you want to go. Site 11 and 12 are only a few miles on the dirt road and are large and flat. The sites in the 20’s are deeper in and a bit smaller. The Frenchman warm springs are early on (before site 20) where you will see a no parking on the side for the next 1/4 mile sign. The springs are on the left right on the side of the road. If you have a 4x4 and want some light wheeling go past all the sites and you will see a sign for middle and south warm springs roads. Easy wheeling there with some side trails.

4 miles past the end of the pavement, on the right just before the bridge. Creekside, large open space, level, fire ring. Road in very washboarded.

This campground was perfect. We were at site 3, and there was plenty of room for our 24’ RV. There is PLENTY of firewood here so don’t bother buying any. One review said 4 miles on a dirt road, but the first site was only about half a mile on the dirt road. No service in there.

Keep going down Warm Springs Road for at least 5-8 miles. There are multiple forks (West, East, etc). There are 26+ formal numbered dispersed campsites with fire rings. Fall colors are glorious in September and minimal flies, no mosquitoes. Lots of signs indicating no off-roading. Plentiful firewood. No cell coverage (Verizon) so bring a book!

Snow is still melting and it's raining almost everyday.
We stayed in what we think is site 12. It is not marked but it's on the right after site 11.
Large site right on river. With that said, it can be very muddy.
Due to an avalanche this year there is only 1 more spot available after 12. The road is also closed passed the spring. The spring is also under water since the river is so high.
No cell service and no amenities, except a fire ring.
Views are stunning and the road is great for cycling.
The ranger showed up to make sure we knew the rules. Very nice and informative.

Creek is over it’s bed and many avalanche areas from this winter. Road very difficult due to potholes. Beautiful area and great spots just not now. Site 9 and 14 larger pull through sites.
