Caribou Campground is composed of 7 campsites which are first-come, first-serve, and is situated in a pine overstory near the Sawtooth National Recreation Area Visitor Center. Popular trail heads in the area include North Fork, West Fork, East Fork, and Murdock Creek. The trails in Northfork Canyon lead to Murdock Creek, Amber Lakes, Window Lake and into the Hemingway-Boulder Wilderness Area with views of Ryan Peak, Kent Peak, Glassford peak and Silver Peak in the Hemingway-Boulder mountains all of which are over 11,000 feet in elevation.. This is a terrific area for fishing in the Big Wood river and Murdock creek, hiking, and the wildlife viewing is tremendous. RV's and trailers are not recommended for this campground because of the inability to turn around once you enter.

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 08, 2022Well kept campsite. Fit our travel trailer. Wouldn’t recommend anything over 28 feet total. We stayed at site 6. 7 total sites. Plenty of trees for shade, wildlife and easy access to the river. Saw deer and even had a bear come into one of our neighbors campsite.

Very pretty wooded campground next to a river. The two other people who were there stayed to themselves and weren’t loud so it was nice and peaceful. Have 1 bar of Verizon signal. Highly recommend.
The only negative was that when I got there, 3 of the 4 unoccupied sites had tags on them saying they were reserved for that night and the next 4 nights, yet nobody ever showed to any of them. This is a first come first serve campground so it’s kinda sucky that people show up and reserve and never show. Not the first time I’ve encountered this. Forestry Service should really put a stop to that.
