Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on June 07, 2022It seems like this area is more for OHV users accessing nearby trails. There are a few campsites in here but they are all very small and the access trails are very narrow. If you have a trailer or motorhome expect to be scraping brush on both sides, I wouldn’t recommend it even though I did get my trailer in here. Much more suitable for vans or cars/trucks with tents.
The campsites are scattered along a bunch of interconnected trails. Take a look at the satellite photo map before you go in so you can navigate. I’ll describe the sites as you go clockwise around the main loop (taking the first possible left after turning into this area off of US-89:
There is a very wide spot on the trail, basically a pullout on each side with both suitable for a van or small motorhome. This may be your only option if you’re in something bigger than a van but not enough room to turn a trailer around here.
Next you’ll go down a hill and come to a bridge for ATVs. Jjust past the bridge along the loop (not over the bridge, it’s for ATVs only) is a spot that a trailer can be backed into along the creek but it’s very tight with a small pullout suitable for a van on the other side of the trail. I got my 19’ Airstream in here but had to position the door precisely to avoid the brush.
Continuing clockwise along the trail there are 2 more small pullouts along the creek suitable for vans before heading back up to the entrance.

We found a large open spot for our 45ft 5th wheel backing up to the river. This place is pretty cool for being free. Yes it is an off road area with dust but we didn't mind them passing every couple hours. Great spots here if available!

We stayed on the West side of the road near the creek/bridge. There are a handful of nice spots on the lower loop of the road. I'm not sure I would want to stay in the two little pull-out spots just off the road for more than anything other than a quick overnight stay. If you don't mind some brush touching your vehicle then you could even fit something as large as a 5th-wheel. I've got two videos for this spot which include the sites and a Verizon speedtest.
The first is a standard video here:

As other reviewers stated when you turn off the road you drive through vegetation that brushes the rig. I have no idea where the drone shot was taken because the road I came to was red sand. As I proceeded I realized the sand was way too deep. I tried to turn around but got stuck. So grateful a gallant man in Jeep with traction boards and winch was able to get me out.
DO NOT ATTEMPT with anything larger than a 30' 5th Wheel. My advise - Park across the street at the Hog Canyon parking/staging area. The dispersed camping area is not that large and you can see if your rig will fit and if there's a spot for you. After looking at the area, we camped across the road at the Hog Canyon parking area. We met a lot of great people with their OHVs and the trails are great. Check for ants if you're going to camp at the dispersed area. They were terrible.
I don't think the first two pictures listed for this area are actually from this area. We stayed across the street from the Dispersed camping area and hiked all over. It looks nothing like the first two - wide open pictures. The other pictures are accurate.

I don't know where the other reviewers pulled off and had trouble finding this location. I have a 35' school bus conversion and was easily able to pull off the highway on to the dirt roads. There are many different dirt roads/trails that access different camp sights. I highly recommend taking the road to the left when you pull off the west side of highway 89 because it takes you to the big pull through site right on the river. As always I recommend scouting ahead before driving into unknown territory. Great spot I highly recommend. Also there is a cell tower on top of the canyon so great cell service here.

pretty sandy area and probably tough for non 4x4 vehicles/big rigs. that being said pretty sweet location on the creek some spots with views. pretty clean although decent amount of traffic from locals and others visiting the area or passing through. easy access off the highway and close to town. definitely some traffic noise.

Totally sketchy!
Good location for some hiking, maybe fishing but the creek was almost dry.
VERY SANDY! My PRO4X handled it fine. A regular vehicle would not get past the few sites right off the highway - which are covered with biting ants. 🐜
No one there except a guy in a van and another guy rattled by in an old car with no visible camping or outdoor gear. He circled the area there near the highway and I guess didn’t find what he was looking for… that was my cue…
Many very nice options with amazing views further north at Twin Hollows and Old 89 dispersed camping areas.
