Confirmed by 12 users | Last reported on January 12, 2022This is a fine camping area that is FREE. When we arrived on a Saturday in April, there was only one 5th wheel on our side of the river. There were a few tents camped along the riverbank. We crossed the bridge and parked right next to the river on the West side of the river right near the "dam" of sorts.
We had ZERO bars of 4G Verizon but our Sprint and ATT phones/data plans worked.
There was even a CARNIVAL happening at the park though we saw no signs for the carnival on the way in.
FREE, and there is a CARNIVAL? What more could you ask for?
There were a few people there for the carnival but once the sun went down, it was as quiet as any other place.
There are bathrooms though I don't know how late they are open and they are pretty nasty. It is a city park after all, so you probably want your own. You can swim in the Llano River and saw several people swimming.
For a FREE campground with NO HOOKUPS, I'd rate this a 5 star. I'd even stay here for a few nights if I wasn't on the way to elsewhere.
I'll post a few photos and possibly a video when I can.
Note: This spot might also be known as Schreiner City Park.

Maximum stay 3 days. Dogs must be on leash. Also called Junction city park. County park across river. No camping there.
PROS: Better than most private parks. Only 1 other rig camped there. Camped overlooking the river. No one right next to us. Very clean. Did feel safe. Walking distance to town. Would definitely recommend.
I would love to give this a 5 stars review but I can't.
1) No verizon service. Had 1g !and 4 bars
2)Road noise and a few cars driving through at dark; it did stop about 10 pm and then picked up again about 6am.

Pulled in to stay overnight for free. No hookups, but quiet, peaceful, plenty of space for our 36' fifth wheel, and by the river. FCFS and easy to drive through. Quick access off I-10 so will definitely use this again when traveling this way.

Pulled in after dark. Easy to find and right off the I-10. Plenty of room for our rig (28 ft trailer and Ford F-350.). Sites are pull through and with gravel so no worries about getting stuck in the mud, even though there had been a hard rain all day. Our site was just feet from the river. Cell service was good - AT&T LTE, 3 bars without a booster. Gorgeous scenery - ducks swimming and fish jumping. Very quiet and peaceful. Truly chicken soup for the soul! There's only enough room for 2-3 campers in the area where we were, but we pulled in at 10:30 pm on a Saturday night and the only other person there was an 18 wheeler. This site is in a city park. It was well lit when we got there but shortly after we set up the lights went out (nice!) so no lights shining in the window. There's a nice little dam with a waterfall right in the area that lulls you to sleep. All in all, a most pleasant stay. A real jewel.

Nice little state park on the river. Right in the town, there is easy access to fuel and food. I lost Verizon about 30 miles east of town and didn't get it back until the next day about 45 miles west on I10. The river is a nice swimming spot and plenty of shaded areas to park and set up. Toilets and sinks, no showers. It is a city park so it is not pristine. Several water spigots around the grounds, no electricity.

Second time we stayed here. See our review below. Everything still great EXCEPT for the crazy man who screamed obscenities all night and then started banging on the fence with a pipe about 3:00 a.m. at which time we called the cops. The local sheriff’s office was very responsive but he walked out to the middle of the small dam over the river and continued to cause a commotion for quite some time. Just part of the adventure. (He is a known local crazy according to the sheriff.). 😜

We arrived after dark but found a pull off that was pretty level and with plenty of room so we didn’t need to unhook the tow. There were people near the playground and several cars driving through the park so weren’t real sure how safe it was. But by 10 pm it was quiet and we had no problems. In the morning we saw that here were several good places to camp and it really is a pretty little park. We were the only camper in the park. Signs say camping is limited to 3 nights. There was quite a bit of traffic again in the morning but seemed to be folks coming to walk and city employees driving through.

Stopped here on our way to Big Bend. This park is pretty cool. The camping area is right on the edge of a small cliff that goes down to the river. Some sites are closer to the water. Park employees have come through a few times and stopped once to chat and make sure we're doing okay. There's a playground, sports fields, picnic shelters with grills, etc. There were at least 8 RVs here Sunday night but most left today (Monday). Sign posted saying max 3 nights. Nice views and lots of birds and turtles to watch. Pet friendly.

Great overnight spot. As others said, lots of cars pass through the park for no apparent reason, but the police cruised through several times as well so we felt safe. No Verizon service but Good satellite service.
