Green Valley Campground is one of two family campgrounds in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park (the other is Paso Picacho). Green Valley is situated among oak and pine forest at an elevation of 4,000 feet. A lovely creek which runs through the campground.
Green Valley has 81 campsites with bathrooms and coin-operated showers. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring and there are water faucets throughout the campground. The sites are either situated far enough apart and/or with the varied terrain, makes them feel private. Most of all of the sites have trees--much needed shade as a respite from the heat.
There is a day use area, with cascades and pools, that is packed during the summer. Lots of hiking opportunities on the 100+ miles of trails, which I did not take advantage of as I travel with my dog (dogs are not allowed on trails).
Be prepared, absolutely no cell coverage (AT&T).
I would definitely camp here again--it's a beautiful area just an hour away from San Diego.

We were one of the first group of campers in for 2021. There were only five other sites being used while we were there. It was hard to get firewood because the Rangers were working on a skeleton crew. There were several bedrock motar (Indian grinding) holes in our campground which was really impressive. You could just imagine the Indians of the old west sitting around grinding acorns in this beautiful area.
The campground has bathrooms with showers for $.25 for every 2 1/2 minutes. There are numerous disabled sites with great wheelchair access. For RVers, there is a dump station and it looks like each site has a water spigot.
Also, they have an amazing horse campground area with numerous corrals in large parking for horse trailers. numerous horse trails nearby as well.
We went hiking on the pine ridge trail and had a blast. We ended up where there are some primitive campsites. Beautiful Meadows and lots of wildlife, including turkeys and other fowl.

I just came back. I spent three days in the middle of September, T-Th nights. So it was practically empty, being the off-season. There were maybe four other campers there Thursday night, the busiest of that stay.
It is much more full on weekends, and in the summer.
I was in site 78, one of several ADA accessible sites. (And disabled campers pay half price.) Those have level poured concrete pads, but you do have to either have a California Parks Disabled card or disabled plates/placard to use them. The rest are mostly asphalt and a few dirt, and they are for the most part fairly level. But you will need to level your rig at least a little at most of them.
I did have three bars on my phone on occasion, but more often zero. I have T-Mobile, and didn't even have phone service, let alone data. So be prepared to either be offline, or have either a cell booster or a satellite modem. (I found it a good chance to take a deep look into myself.)
The big attraction at this campground is the Green Valley Falls along the Sweetwater River. But depending on the year, it can be a trickle or a true river. (I live nearby, so have been there to see both conditions.) But it is a beautiful area. There are many wonderful hikes around the area, there is Lake Cuyamaca for fishing, and the nearby tourist town of Julian, which itself is known for its apples. You HAVE to get a pie there.
