Very nice facility. Clean. Level sites. Walking trail near the small river. Recently upgraded. Contrary to other review - camp hosts on site and attentive. Note if driving from Cuba, NM that HWY 126 becomes dirt/gravel for about 8 miles. If arriving from the NW with a travel trailer, you may want to consider continuing on 550 to Hwy 4, then north on 4. Adds about 30 miles, but only 15 minutes and you avoid the dirt road.

Paid for 3 nights left after one night.
We travelled from North Carolina and before we left we called ranger station and they said the campground will close Sept 15. We arrived on Sept 14 and one side of the gate was open so we drive in and picked out a site. PA d our fee, them realized the bathroom was locked!! Very disappointed. These toilets are vault toilets- so why lock them. We camped here 4 years ago in late Sept and this was not the case.

This campground was completely reworked a few years ago. It’s nestled in the trees along a creek and is far enough off the road so it’s quiet. Nice full hookups and we would definitely return.

I stayed here for three days and two nights in one of the tent sites (#27). The campground had just reopened several days before my visit due to wildfires in the area. This campground is very accessible and can accommodate anything from tents to large RVs. The large RV sites have electric and water however the water was turned off when I visited. It is right off the main road and close to a convenience store and many hiking trails and Hot Springs and approximately 15 miles from Fenton Lake. Lots of things to see and do in this area. The campground was a little messy but that was probably due to the fact that it only opened four days earlier. The camp host was in the process of cleaning things up. Because of this I marked it down a little bit on cleanliness. Because of the close proximity of the road you do here quite a bit of vehicle noise.
