The “sluice” was open...so there was a bit of noise. The boat launch ramp was near us and my labs were able to take a swim, wet dogs = happy dogs. Wet dogs in RV = candle burning. Electric and water at site. My Site had adequate privacy; which means my dogs were not an annoyance to other sites.

Two campgrounds here at Kendall. We stayed at the Annex which is more open. The main campground has many more trees and also has Wi-Fi near the bathrooms. They also recycle! Our site was very large, level, had gravel, borders, a nice picnic table, fire ring and plenty of parking for a toad. We had 50 amp and water hook up. Big rigs will fit in just fine here in certain spots. Great Verizon cell coverage and we also had good satellite at our campsite. Being connected for the week was a treat! Two dump stations at each campground. When the newly planted trees grow up at this site it will be superb! The Wolf Creek national fish Hatchery here is fantastic. The staff inside has lots of information about the area. Make sure to check out the rock house. Capt Jake’s snacks and bait it’s right here in the park and has firewood and ice cream that is sooo tasty on a hot summer afternoon. We went to Russell Springs to shop for groceries at the Kroger and had lunch at Coe‘s Steakhouse. Great meal! You should try the chef salad, Catfish which they are famous for, or the fried pork tenderloin sandwich.
Lots of trout fishing here both easy and hard, you pick. The Hatchery stocks a stream directly behind it every other day and it’s like taking candy from a baby. They also have the Hatchery Creek (catch & release) which was totally man-made a few years ago and offers fishing there too. Unfortunately access to the creek other than near the road requires a machete. Really overgrown with thorns in spots. We heard there were lots of ticks as well. I was talking to one of the Core guys and they actually mowed the river trail for us. They said the department of natural resources has right away on the stream and they cannot clear any type of path at all. Such a lost opportunity to enjoy a unique fishing scenario. We fished the river before the generations started and did well fly fishing for trout near the tree cover.

Kendall campground has 2 sections, one being Kendall, the other is Kendall Annex. We were concerned thinking the “annex” would be the older or less desirable section...we were wrong! The sites in Kendall Annex are large and is easy to navigate with a large RV. The main campground was much tighter to navigate with some narrow roads and a lot of trees. The check in for the Kendall Annex is at the main campground gate, then you turn around and go back to the annex campground. The Wolf Creek Fish Hatchery is located between the two campgrounds and our son loved visiting it and seeing all the trout being raised there. We would definitely stay again, but only on the annex side.

We stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend and there wasn't a lot of people in the park which made for a very pleasant experience. Our site was right next to the Cumberland river and we hear owls and blue herons. There is a fish hatchery on the grounds that feed a trout stream. The only negative we would have is the road into the campground. It's not for faint at heart. It's very curvy and hilly. It's a great driving road if I was in my GTI, but not so great in a large vehicle towing the camper.
Cell phone coverage was very good. We had 2-3 bars, but the latency was very good and I was getting around 20-50 mbps download on both my phone and tablet.

Nice quiet camping. Spaces vary in size and many are easily accessible. We camped a very short walk from the fish hatchery and it made for a fun afternoon when we fed the fish.
Fishing was a tad difficult with small children, but still enjoyable.
It was really cool to see the constant fog coming off of the lake as it comes out of the dam.
We enjoyed going to the lake Cumberland state resort for dinner on one of the nights.

We loved 96 in the annex, which was easy to get in and out of with a huge gravel pad. Even though it's probably one of the smaller sites here, we still had plenty of room and a beautiful overlook of the water. Our kids loved the hatchery. There are several nice playgrounds here and a short multi-use trail connects the annex to the main campground and annex.
