The website for the park allows you to reserve your camp dates and site. It also allows you to pay for the first day on line then the balance when you arrive. I like this feature for if I’m unable to make it I won’t be out the entire camping fee but just the one day. There are no refunds if you have to cancel.

I have been coming here to camp for several years. We camped over the 4th of July weekend. We were please to see the park adding electrical power to the RV camp sites which should be available by the end of July. No more sweating at night because I'm not allowed to run my generator.

During the day there is a large police presence who spend most of their day tracking down lost children and lost parents. You can get wrist bands for your children from the life guards.

Scruffy and a touch unloved. Overgrown in places, reminds me of Thailand! There are new roads in place but not linked to anywhere, there are power boxes on sites but not hooked up. Apparently a hurricane came through 18 months ago, it’s taking a long time to get things back up and running. Glad it was just an overnight stay. And then...... checking in was like opening a bank account! Lots of staff in the office perhaps they could organise a working bee at the campsite. And then I didn’t get issued with the code for the showers, I rang 3 different phone numbers, either got an answer phone or they didn’t know the code, even the host didn’t have it! So overall one of the worst camps we have stayed in and we have been on the road for 5 months.

Based on previous reviews we were prepared for the worst; not the case at all. We arrived after office hours and the security guard had our site assignment and park pass ready for us.

The restrooms are clean; all sites now have power, fire rings, and picnic tables. We were the first occupants of site 17 - we were to stay only one night but stayed seven. Quiet and peaceful with amazing sunrises.

We stopped over to sleep on a long drive - it is an open space removed from downtown. It hosts lots of shorelines and marsh for walking and sea bird viewing - eagles, egrets, storks ... a play structure for kids and trails for walkers. (We travel with a dog.)

The staff was great - after hours security staff had our reso ready and helped us find our spot through the maze in the dark.

It was mentioned that this is s recoveing campsite - it is... but they keep it clean and as well-tended as possible. It could use new paint and some updating - but the hookups were great and the new fire rings were fun. So, it will continue to improve.

Caveats: sorry to mention that it is near enough to a naval base to hear their grunting engines all night.
Also, its probably seasonal - but our pants, and dog, were covered with painful goatheads just from our site. Enough that we drove to the bathroom in the morning so, not to walk on the site again.

Again - great shoreline, great staff, clean and active location with many settled in campers ... we just hit it on the wrong season.

We need at least 1 Mb/s up and down to work on the road, with our managed plans could only get .01, even though ATT and Verizon were both 5 bars. One unmanaged phone got 4 Mb up and 14 down.

Nice location on a jetty, watch the cargo ships sail by. Lots of trails one to a drive on beach.

Dogs got spiky seeds (goats heads?) stuck all over so only walked them on the paths. Helicopters floating around, did not bother us but could if you are not a fan.

Would love to stay here longer but no dice with the internet.

We parked here during February and I guess it just wasn’t the best time of the year. It was chilly at night but daytime was alright.
Very windy when we came for all the 6 days! Limited amount of people and only electrical hook up.
Water tasted terrible but I think that’s a Florida thing.
Parking with three kids means a trip to the dump and water station every two days.
The site was level though.
I wouldn’t stay here again since it is close to the military base and there are always helicopters or ships coming and going. Might be nice for a few days but not anything longer. The beach was nice. Dunes are beautiful and plenty of shells.
Not much to do with kids as playground is off limits. Just beach and walking around.
Fishing was a hit or miss.

Huguenot Park if a hidden gem, the campground is pretty basic with just electric hookups, no water or sewer at the sites. Dump station and water fill near the bathhouse. But you have views of the St Johns River, Fort George inlet, and the Atlantic ocean. After the park closes you basically have the beach to yourselves. Check out our review video above for a full review.

Awesome oceanfront park, great views, great fishing, and great sized lots. Electric only, dogs can’t get near shorelines, and potable water station has horrible water as most oceanfront camper grounds do. Would definitely recommend filling freshwater tank before coming. Also don’t forget anything closest grocery store is 30 minutes away. Definitely will be back, great weekend getaway spot.

Great campsite.

If you arrive at night, be prepared to go SLOW as not much is lighted, even around the facilities. I completely get why, though. Pro tip, the potable water station is poorly marked, but just a few dozen yards from the NON potable water at the dump station. Don't make our mistake and fill up there thinking there isn't another option.

We had spot 25, which was flanked by two campsites on either side, dunes and beach behind, and a road in front. This was a great spot, and unless you HAVE to use the interior spots due to length, I don't know why anyone wouldn't camp between the road and ocean. The spots all have their quirks, though. The site next to us had a really well travelled beach access spot that was all sand. We had to pick our way through sand spurs to get to the beach. The site on the other side next to us had a huge pile of sand on site for some reason. The kids there loved it with their shovels, though. The site next to us was relatively flat, ours had a steep incline. Just be aware they are not 100% uniform.

We played with the kids on the beach, it was very nice and not too crowded when we went. There are no fresh water hookups but there are electric hookups. The fresh water fill station and dump station are a 1 minute drive from site 25. I had to make the trip a few times in the truck to refill our fresh water tank.

My wife used one of the restrooms once on our way out, and didn't complain so I am assuming that means they were clean, otherwise she would have :D

The only negatives were the crazy driving wind coming off the sea, which was prevalent almost the entire time there. During the day it was pleasant. At night it seemed to kick up and was oppressive and made the camper rock.

We stayed here for a week starting on Jan 1. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

When we got there on Friday and the park was pretty crowded with both campers and people coming to the park for the day. It cleared out significantly throughout the week - only about a quarter of the sites we occupied.

We loved our site, #17. It was perfect for our 22 foot motorhome. Just a dune separated us from the beach. It was also a short walk away from the restrooms, showers, and dumpsters. The showers were always warm but only sometimes were they hot.

The sites all had electricity but no water or sewage. There was a central dump station and potable water fill up station, both conveniently located.

We should mention that there is a naval base close by, and helicopters flew overhead pretty often. In addition, the landscapers were hard at work throughout the week, which did cause some noise. This didn’t bother us, but if you’re easily annoyed by noise, it might bother you.

We’d definitely stay again!
